The Wish List,What do you guys want that you can't get
Re: The Wish List,What do you guys want that you can't get
id like the ashtray lid for a 90 camaro in black. a while back the rivet that held the top of the lid to the bottom part fell off, so now when the ashtray is open the left side of the ashtray lid sags down a quarter inch into the console, and to shut it i have to make sure to pull it up so its level and then shut the ashtray (ipod wire is through the ashtray, dont worry i dont smoke)

The plastic trim panel that goes between the headliner and the rear window. Every one you find is cracked by the screw holes.

The one and only thing that I want but cant get is...... A 100% full restoration of my 86 IROC. And I do mean everything just like in Chip Foose's "Overhaul."
Re: The Wish List,What do you guys want that you can't get
85-90 chinspoilers--no junk--de facto easily mistakable for a NOS piece perfect duplicates, with all proper mounting provisions, made to the same standards/consistencies of the urethane/whatever GM used.
Basically a show quality, restoration-grade piece that would get GMs approval as a restoration-grade piece.

What would be cool is a drink holder in the arm rest in the driver/passenger doors. A custom arm rest that bolts up in factory holes. That's the only thing I would want, but can't get. Or the only thing I can think of.

mkae one using the factory cupholder but mold it into thedoor panel so its stronger, and make a build thread on it. that would be sweet

My wish list would have to include a FULL factory restoration by the Legendary Chip Foose.

Tony,
Why cant we order package deals? Carpet, door pnl, etc? Also, I ordered some great door panels but need the material that matches for some trim. How do I get the material?

Re: The Wish List,What do you guys want that you can't get
I think searching the junk yards for good parts for these cars adds to the fun of owning one. Ive scored many a great part from otherwise trashed thirdgens. Got a nearly mint centerconsole out of a hurt 89 formula during the height of cash for clunkers. And just recently an overhead console from a stripped and rusted out 86 camaro. That console was in better shape than the one in my car, and I think mine is very nice
That being said there are some things your just cant find in the junk yards. First that comes to mind... Door latches. Theyre always warn out and the ones available though classic industries are pretty pricey.
Next, I would have to say 91/2 T/A front ground effects. I dont think Ive ever seen a good set except on a clean car.

Re: The Wish List,What do you guys want that you can't get
I agree with Frank D, the piece behind the headliner is always cracked or the openings are busted out.
All 91-92 Firebird/TA front and rear bumper and associated parts
Cup Holders, Ground effect parts, console parts
ALL years Camaro ground effects, chin spoilers, console parts
Wouldn't it be great if there was a sudden craze for 3rd Gens and a company started selling chassis's for a ground up restoration! Like they do for the older Camaros, Chevelles and Mustangs. Then the restoration companies would get on the ball and make all the parts needed to build a complete(new) car. Why should Chevelle, Mustang and Camaro owners have all the fun?

True, but I meant the sub frame from front to rear. Just a brand new shell with no doors, fenders, etc. Similar to the 1st gen Camaro shells that are sold. I forget the company that makes them

1st gens are like eastwood or something. harwood makes fiberglass bodies and so does vhn.
but yes just the basic frame/shell. although they would overprice the crap out of it like everything else

Here's the site for the new GM shells. Kinda high priced but it would be neat to build your own 3rd Gen from the ground up and use any motor/trans combo you wanted.

Re: The Wish List,What do you guys want that you can't get
I have a 78 Chevy Silverado. The aftermarket is so great that all you need is a set of frame rails, a VIN plate from the junkyard, and you could literally build a new old truck from the ground up using just reproduction parts. The details (like interior trim) won't be 100%, but it'll be close enough.
