Check This Out - Crazy Find
So several nights ago, for no apparent reason at all I got a wild hair about scouring the TGO boards to see if I could find a PO of my car (Me being the fifth owner), to dig up a little bit on It's history.
I did a member search for all people in the VA/MD area, searching keywords like 1985 Z8, 1985 TPI and 1985 Z28 305 TPI.
Well, after 2 hours I kept hitting a wall. Then I remembered something. There was a car in the TGO gallery that looked strikingly similar to mine. in fact, it looked exactly the same, but the rims and front grille were different so I never thought anything of it. Same year and model. They looked so much alike, whenever someone would ask me what my car looked like and I didn't have a photo handy, I would always load up TGO and go to that picture. "See, mine looks exactly like this except the rims are different". Well, I loaded back up the picture and took a GOOOOOOOOD look at it. I thought to myself, "How many white Z28's with gold trim do I know"? Very rare combo from the looks of it. I've seen like 4. The one in the photo, mine, one in a youtube vid and one in a vintage IROC commercial. So I thought eh what the hell and did a search on the username that had posted the photo. He hadn't been active here very long, only having made 11 posts. But reading these posts, I managed to gather that this car had SLP runners, aftermarket LCA's, Spohn panhard bar, a 305TPI and a 700R4 with a B&M shift kit.
Wait a minute WTF that IS MY CAR!
So I did a google search for that same username, which managed to turn up a couple accounts on a few other sites. One of the sites he registered his real name. So I did a google search on his name and discovered his facebook. I sent him a message and low and behold he didn't believe it at first. but when I went into detail about the modifications the car had, we both knew. We talked for over half an hour a couple nights later and were pretty stoked about the find. We're planning on meeting up and going cruising once spring hits.
The part that really makes me laugh here, is that I would always use this mystery car for comparison to what mine looked like. And it WAS mine all along!
Thank you to TGO for making this find possible

Hi there,
That is a very nice colour combo (very rare to see), I especially like the weld rims.
Take care of her.

Good research!!! Always fun to find a bit of history on your car.... The PO of my '82 only has 5 years left on his sentence, maybe less if he makes parole!!!!!

I like the rims too, however they were long gone when I got the car. It now has gold Z28 rims.
Unfortunately, the car was in a wreck just two weeks ago. The rear end came loose on I95 and the car fishtailed down the road at 70MPH.
The damage wasn't major, thank god. All I need is some front end parts IE: hood, fenders, and bumper. The frame and radiator support suffered no damage. The thread can be found in the BODY forum with the title, "Wrecked The Devil Machine Today
".She will be put back together by spring. Still runs and drives fine and maintains It's status as daily driver.

Re: Check This Out - Crazy Find
that's a cool story. I have talked with the previous owner of my Trans Am periodically. I found it on the classifieds here and bought it on August 16th 2003 :-) He even sent me some pictures of doing a nasty burnout in it back in 1995. Mine was the same beige and gold color combo as yours but I just repainted it platinum this past summer. If you take the previous owner for a ride, make sure he didn't keep a copy of the key! hehe

Re: Check This Out - Crazy Find
about the same thing happened to me with my GTA. I was looking for pictures of it on the internet, previous owners, ect. I did find a bunch of pictures of it I believe from 2004-05. same tires, pin stripe, and it was a notchback so there was no mistaking it was my car. I was so excited!
