RPO decoder problems and questions

I believe at least a few of the rpo codes in the decoder are wrong. My paint code is 18U which is Dark Green - Grey Metallic not Slate Gray ,right? What does 15C Trim compination, cloth, med slate gray (C)(91) refer to, seats? And 18Q Molding color, slate gray (91) is this the molding from the dash back? My camaro had black when I got it not sure if it is right or if the decoder is wrong.

What parts of the interior plastic trim wasn't able to be ordered in a different color?

Any one know what this refers to 15Z - TRIM - FISHER BODY DESIGN LEVEL Z - VINYL - SLATE GRAY?d

Also, how do you know if your camaro had a carpet center console, carpeted hatch side and back plastics, t-top shades cloth or plastic if any, vinal or cloth cargo cover, std or dlx carpet, std or dlx seats?

Thanks all.

Re: RPO decoder problems and questions

18 is the color code... 18U is the Upper color. Color names mean little. The number is what's important.

15C is the interior code... The (91) means that the code definition applies directly to 91 because the source was a 1991 service manual. It may not mean the same thing for other years.

18Q means the moldings are color matched 18, and Q is the part designation. Just shooting from the hip here, but it's probably talking about the door moldings.

The entire dash, along with the A & B pillar trims, and the center console were all black in 1992. The center console would be bare plastic unless the "custom" level seats were ordered. Along with the basic plastic console the door panels would also be bare vinyl at the top, not cloth. The Custom seats are easy to spot, they have a separate headrest. The carpeted interior panels in the trunk weren't an option in 1992. The cloth security cover was standard after the mid 80's, I'm fuzzy on the exact year it changed (somewhere between 86 & 87) but by 92 they were all cloth.

Hope that helps.

Sorry about that, I looked before I replied and it stuck that it was one year off from the definitions. Regardless the same information applies to 92. The definitions generally are really close between 91-92, the biggest changes for 92 were new/additional colors, which in this case is the meat of the question.

Re: RPO decoder problems and questions

Well what I really wanted to know is if the rpo decoder gave me the right colors for 92 so I can restore my camaro properly. This is the same reasion I asked about the other stuff, i wanted to know if those thing have a rpo code. So I now know that I need a cloth cargo cover thanks you. By door molding do you mean the door sill that says "Body by Fisher"? I just want to get things straight before I buy because when I got the car it had pre 90 GFX and 15" rims (16 were factory ordered), all black interior and carpet on the bottom of the door panels and on the console. What about split rear seats is there a rpo code for that? Thanks.

Re: RPO decoder problems and questions

If you have the SPID, the actual paint codes are at the very bottom. Also just for giggles, make sure the VIN number on the SPID matches the VIN number on the car. By door moldings I mean the rubber/vinyl bump strips down the middle of the doors.

You can also cross-check your rpo codes with the database at www.compnine.com

Re: RPO decoder problems and questions

BTW code 18 for 92 is listed as Dark Green Gray, the paint code is WA 9795. Since all 92's were monochrome, they'd be listed on the SPID as WA-L9795 U9795 then a couple spaces to the right it'd have your interior color code.
