RPO: 1AY?

Ok so I have an RPO code "1AY" as you can see:

Name: Camaro56.jpg
Views: 1699
Size: 49.6 KB

Then when I was decoding my sheet, I tried the Thirdgen RPO Decoder, and it gives me this:

Name: RPODecoder.jpg
Views: 536
Size: 87.7 KB

So then I went to check my Service Manual that I just got in the mail the other day and theres nothing....

Name: 0225002333.jpg
Views: 495
Size: 50.4 KB

So I'm lost, its not really that big a deal, but what does it mean? I know what all the other options are on my SPID sticker, but this one got away from me again even after I got my manual.

Oh and the Service Manual is specific to the year of the car so it should be in there but it isn't.

Anyone know what it is?

Did you try Google? Sometimes it's not so accurate, but in this case I'm not sure if it is or not...

I don't know, and like you said I'm not sure about getting information about stuff like that from some site I've never been to. I just find it hard to believe that its not in my service manual or even the RPO Decoder.

www.camarosource.ca

Their RPO decoder matches with that Drew said.

The owner of that site is a member of this site and is a Camaro fanatic. I'd trust camarosource as much as anywhere for RPO decoding.

Re: RPO: 1AY?

Or you can use the Advanced search and type in 1ay and select the History forum. TGO being around for over 10 years, the codes generally appear at one time or another in a discussion with a definition.

You just have to be careful because the RPO codes were recycled at times and can mean something different despite it being the same platform and generation. Y84, for example, is an RPO code that was recycled in the Third Gen platform on the Trans AM and meant different trim.

Or you can just go to the history/restoration forum, and near the top of the list over at the right there's a button labeled "search this forum". 1AY brings up three pages of results.

Yeah that just makes it that much more confusing when your trying to find information like this, from sites you cant trust.
