Question about console of early 3rd Gen
I did a quick search but found nothing on this query. On the early third gens, there is what appears to be a leather covered bulge on the drivers side of the console. What the heck is this? I believe it is specific to '83 and/or '84 models. It is located near the radio pod. I don't see it on all the cars, just a very few. Help me out here.

that was an option on the early firebirds. That console was only used from 82-84 and I know the pad was available in 84, not 100% sure about 82 and 83. It was supposed to be a knee pad to lean against during hard turning.

Re: Question about console of early 3rd Gen
Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't sure if it was some kind of cover for ductwork or something else. You are right that I have only seen it on Trans Ams, and not a lot of those. I knew it was only on the early third gens because the console changed in '85.
