Silver 1985 Camaro Owners
I'd like to know if the paint info found at the bottom of the RPO sheet is the same for all silver cars made in 1985 or if there was a difference between silver and met. silver. The info of my met. silver IROC is as follows: Enamel WA - L8547 08547. From what I understand met. silver was a one-year color.
Hunting for answers.
(GM built 180,018 Camaros in 85. Only 11,684 of them were in silver. The 21+ thousand IROC's were sprayed in five colors, to include silver. Those factors could lead to the rarity of silver IROC's--and the fact that I've never seen another one.)

My silver '85 IROC:
Enamel WA- L8547 U8547
Silver was available in other years too, just not on the IROC-Z. My '84 Z-28 is a similar silver, but the paint code is not the same.

Re: Silver 1985 Camaro Owners
I did some digging in my old paint chip books. I have every year GM '79-'91, except for '90 (PPG).
The silver used on '82 F-body was a carry-over from the '81 model year.
The '83-'84 F-body used another shade of silver, but two different codes depending on which plant manufactured the car (enamel vs. water based).
The '85 F-body had it's own shade of silver, and also had two different codes for enamel/water.
There was also another shade of silver for GM vehicles that year, it must have been for base/clear vehicles. This code was also listed for the '86 F-body. It was also used in later Chevrolet vehicles, along with a couple other codes for silver (they look basically the same).
I also noticed that in the years with two different codes depending on enamel/water based, the same color could look drastically different, especially in '84.
So yes, the '85 Camaro had it's own silver color. One code for enamel, and another for water-based.

And yes, Silver IROCs are pretty rare.
I remember seeing a lot of IROCs in the late 80s, they seemed to be everywhere. But most were Red or Blue. I remember some Black ones and a few Yellow, but I can't remember ever seeing Silver.

Re: Silver 1985 Camaro Owners
This is the best web site I have found for paint codes. http://firebirdattitude.com/cgi-bin/...r=1985&rows=50 Note there are three codes that are silver for 1985 GM cars. WA8547 silver enamel. WA8602 silver water base and WA8535 silver lacquer. I hopes this helps.
