I can't find any? Also did they make verts? Or heritage vert cars?

 

I know I had brought this up in a previous post where you asked about 1992 RS', so not trying to repeat, but Leonard provided us with some documentation & brochures. He provided this Heritage brochure:



You can see that Purple haze was available to both RS and Z28 Convertible and Coupes. Z03 was available on the Convertibles.

Compnine shows atleast 538 Z03 Convertibles for the 1992. They show atleast 49 of them were Purple Haze Z03 Convertibles. They show atleast 40 Polo Green Z03 Convertibles. I say "atleast" because they don't have a complete 1992 database.

 

Ok I can't find anything that showed they made a polo green z03 vert.z28 And this confirms it. Thanks.

 

I have a Purple Haze z28. I don't see many that color so I assume they didn't make very many that color.

That is a great break down on the #'s. Now I know why I could not find a purple haze Z28 Z03. Not very many made. Great info.

 

I should point out that about 10% of the total cars are not listed in my source... so its not an exact science, but it gives you an idea of ratio's etc...

Nice car. I see that yours doesn't have the Z03 option. Just wondering how many Z03 Z28 Camaros were made with 5 speed.

 

Approximately 6 - 1992 Camaro Z28 Convertibles with the Z03, MM5 and Purple Haze combo.

Understand that these are approximate. You will not likely find an exact answer or two of the same answers because GM didn't keep records of options on top of options and some records appear to be missing.

 

I have been thinking about painting this a different color but now after seeing this post and the low production numbers for the Z28 in purple would this be a poor decision? Were there only 55 of these made?

 

I definitely wouldn't...and don't get me wrong, I hate Purple in general. To me, Purple Haze is the color to have for any 1992 Camaro. Haven't seen one in 10+ years though.

 

the Purple Haze one came with the Jimmie Hendrix Experienced album in the passenger seat.

 

So only +/- 55 purple Z's? Crap, now I wish I woulda bought that one on Craigslist a couple months ago!

 

I would paint it ASAP. Not going to be worth one more cent because it's a rare color. It's a rare color because GM knew they wouldn't sell a whole lot of them in the first place.

 

i agree , it might be a rare color but it doesnt make it worth anymore than a black or red z28 ..

Honestly, I never really cared for Purple Haze. It just wasn't one of my colors. I bought my purple '92 vert because it was a 'vert, not much money a-n-d it was a car which spent it's life in the California desert. No better place to get a car from!

But after I got it, I realized how a certain segment of people just LOVE that color. Females loved it too.


When I was ready to move on, it sold easily. In fact, people were messaging me months after I sold it, inquiring about it.

 

Well, the only thing I can think of that would reduce the value of your Purple Haze Z28 more that that is to dowse the hood with lighter fluid, light it up, get yourself a Dr. Pepper and watch it burn.

In other words, DON'T DO THAT!

It's true, people are fruity for fruity colors. Yellow, Purple, and Metallic Burnt Orange, Gunmetal Gray, Sparkling Potato (Brown), there's always someone who is REALLY appreciative of a goofy color.

I remember one time I saw a purple 4th gen SS, back when they were fairly uncommon, 98, 99, back then. When you got close to it, you could see that it had been red. Just one example of someone who really wanted their car purple.
