1988 1lE
Need some help! On my 1988 Camaro Iroc-Z I realized that the front bumper suport bar (about 5 ' long) is made from aluminium while other camaro's have the same suport made of steel. It has a 350 engine and 4 disc brakes and an oil cooler, also the transmission cooler is alu and behind the watercooler. At the moment I restore this car because it has been destroyed by vandals. Do Camaros had this as an option? thanks for response

Re: 1988 1lE
Are you asking if there were Camaros made in 1988 with 1LE? Yes there were.
Are you asking if your car is one of those? I'm going to say no, without knowing anything else other than your car is a 350 and word is there are none of that variety. But you can look for yourself, find the SPID in the console, and look for 1LE. Its not there (it will not be), you dont have one. Period.

Cars other than 1LE's were equipped with the alum drive shaft.

Service Parts Identification that should be affixed inside the console for your vehicle. It's white with several 3-character codes that identify the equipment on the car. It was used by Service when ordering correct replacement parts.

That just made the whole issue even better. The front end was wrecked at some point. A previous owner replaced the front bumper cover and support. At this point, the car has been hacked. I can guarantee it is not one of the four 1988 1LEs. Good luck.
