I guess he could have driven all those miles on a dealer plate but that sure is risky!

Re: How do you drive 54k miles and never title?

Not really...if the guy owned the dealership, he could've driven for years on the dealer tag and let the dealership pick up his insurance bill

Happens more than you might think!

EDIT: That car is not clean...at all. Cracked dash, worn signal lenses, faded top of back seat, rear carpet is all wrinkled up, sandblasted gfx, etc. A car like that needs as much work (if not possibly more) than my 31,000 mile Trans Am, if you want it to be a really nice car.

I paid nowbhere near $16,000 for my Trans Am

I agree with you on that. He also could have pulled the plates of another car and when he needed to register just put them back on that car so that he always had plates. But there is no way I would pay 16,000 for that. Maybe 7,000-8,000.

Re: How do you drive 54k miles and never title?

I had to watch the video as soon as the fired up the ol guns and roses haha

That car is extremely clean looking though, perfect other then the red interior (to much red IMO)

But 15k is a bit to much though, 10k seems more like it, even if that...

If that thing was purple and I had the money for that, I would be jumping for joy haha.

Sorry got off topic :/ , But yah that seems a bit strange about the never titled thing, im not sure how that would be worked out with that many miles and never titled, sorry.

Re: How do you drive 54k miles and never title?

Either it was never sold and just driven by the owner of the dealership with a dealer plate or it was sold, never registered, and was driven with temp tags. If I was to do the latter here in Nebraska I would go to jail for tax evasion since no sales or property taxes would have been paid on the car for 18 going on 19 years.

My guess is that is was operated by a dealership because it is hard to believe that that car has never been pulled over by the police since it has been on the road.

Re: How do you drive 54k miles and never title?

My family bought a 1996 Yukon SLT back in 1997. It had 23,000 miles on it, but was never titled. Through some research with the dealer, we found out that the truck was Reggie White's personal vehicle while he was in Tennessee... some strange technicality prevented him from buying the vehicles themselves... I dunno; I'm not a dealer, but years later, we had the seats out and actually found a scrap of paper with his name on it.

Uh, I work for a car dealer, and I can assure you no dealer would have a 25th Z28 loaner car. That would be like us putting a Challenger RT on as a loaner.

Not happening.

LOL!!!

That's why I put " ? " Stab in the dark as an idea.

Agree, it probably wouldn't have lived this long!!

My Dad works for a major dealer in the county here,
The only " loaners " they have are basic older
Grand Am GTs & G6s, and a couple Cobalts.

Re: How do you drive 54k miles and never title?

uhh, you can always ask for the up graded loaner.... here is how I do it " I bought a 32k truck from you 4 months ago and your gonna loan me a lil 15k car? let me talk with your manager please" these was back when my envoy was new 2004.

Gotta at least get something of equal or close to it in value

Really? These terms are questionable as I hear people say all the time that a car is near mint, or perfect interior, etc. If this car falls into that category, then my car is a time capsule and priceless!

That's why I think people need to select their words more carefully.

This car has a cracked dash, worn carpet, stone chips behind all wheels, faded turn signals, sand blasted front end, cracked rear bumper emblem, turn down exhaust pipes (??), etc. Thie car is low mileage, but my 100k mile Silverado is cleaner than that car and so is my 80k mile Monte SS! I would not pay the asking price. I would not pay $10k for this car. Not because I'm being 3rd gen cheap, but because in my eyes, it needs a lot of work for the miles it has. I would say a repaint for at least $2500, good luck finding a mint dash, but if you do, expect to spend another $400, new carpet for a another couple hundred and the other miscellaneous items for a few hundred more. After that has been done, the car is worth the $15k. I know my repair costs don't add up when spent after $10k, but I don't want the hassle to get it done. For that price, with those miles, it needs to be in better condition. What else is hidden behind the lack of registration?

I've been to Streetside in NC. They have some nice cars but most are overpriced, and those that seem properly priced usually have lots of hidden "surprises" upon closer inspection. They sit on their inventory for a long, long time. They charge a few bucks to walk around their showroom.

They have a huge warehouse north of Charlotte and it houses about 50-75 cars. I think it was 2 bucks to just browse, but it's worth it as a car guy will spend close to an hour admiring the cars.

That being said, their asking prices are more appropriate for a full rotisserie-restoration car, but their cars aren't of that quality. Most seem to be used survivors that have been preserved and refinished, with a handful being complete restos.

The classic car shop outside of the Bowling Green Corvette factory charges something like 5 bucks to walk through their showroom and it has about 25 cars, but they were all show quality restorations.
