I know, way over priced and it's been on ebay at least three times with no sale.

Wow, can you say ultimate stripper model! How in the heck did that car get A/C and leather??? LOL

And as far as price, it looks semi-clean but I would never pay even close to that for such an ugly stripped down base camaro!

I think the AM/FM radio is awsome, the wheels are terrible though. Real clean but with so few options not the price I'd be willing to pay. Still I hope it sells to someone that will appreciate the clean, factory condition and not rip out the radio for after market stuff, I replaced the aftermarket stereos in both my birds with stock units.

Well, I don't remember those models having white wall tires, but I never paid that much attention to it.

Interesting to see a 5 speed, V-6, leather interior, without the hatch cover, no power options, no cruise control, the base radio and a bit of rust under the hood. The interior looks good and the engine compartment could look a lot better with a little cleaning. Not sure anyone will pay $4000. for it.

There is a lady in the local Camaro Club who has a red, better optioned version of that car. It consistently takes home the best awards at the yearly show, because she and her Dad completely restored and repainted it in the early 90s. Even though it is a base model, it looks really sharp for what it is.

Re: Ok fellas, let's look this one over...'83 Sport Coupe

That's not leather folks... That's the base vinyl interior. The next step up was cloth, then the custom vinyl and custom cloth.
The dash pad is wrong, all of the plastic interior panels are UV faded and crusty, the paint is worn off the steering wheel, the back seat belts are wrong as they're easily twice as long as they should be for an 83, the door pulls are warped/coming apart, the clutch pedal pad is shot, etc...

It's just a clunker with nice shiny paint. Even that doesn't look that great in the close-ups. That engine combo isn't the worst in the world, but it's pale even in comparison to the MPFI 2.8. It might be a $1500 car if I were in a really generous mood, and I still wouldn't buy it since it's not at all a rare car, or desirable. It'd be more interesting if the engine and transmission were gone, cause at least then you wouldn't have to pull it and haul it to the scrap yard. The shell would be cool with a V8 and a 6spd.

Re: Ok fellas, let's look this one over...'83 Sport Coupe

They definitely had white walls available back then, and I remember seeing those hubcaps on more than a few sport coupes way back when. I agree with Drew...its a $1,500 car with a 102hp boat anchor under the hood. I think it'd be cooler 10-15 years from now when there really are no sport coupes left. As of right now, its just a basic, unexciting, shiny red V6.

If it was at least an LG4, or had some options to it, it would excite me more. I personally have always liked the sport coupes with accent colors and striping, rally wheels, a few goodies in them etc.

Damn Drew, you're right about the dash pad. I just noticed that.

I was thinking the same thing, about if it were an LG4. And LG4/5 speed, stripper, Sport Coupe would make it very neat for me. I'd pop off those extra cost hubcaps and put the base dog dish caps on.

But you guys are right, I figured this as a $1500-$1800 car.

Did anyone notice the clock-like thing in the dash in front of the passenger? I've never seen that before, but then again, I don't pay much attention to the 82-84 cars.

interesting car...

Drew, what's wrong with the dash pad? did the 83 use a different pad?

I was wondering about that myself.

The '82-'83s have a different dash pad. The edge is flat instead of smoothed.

I'm also wondering what that is on the passenger side dash?

Also, since everyone is trying to find corrections and such on this car here is my 2 cents worth. Those are "wheel covers" on the car since they cover the entire wheel not "hub caps" which only cover the hub portion of the wheel. Knowing this trivia probably gives away my age!

Now, I've probably given away how old I am by knowing that!

I just looked at my 1982 parts and illustration catalog, and there's no dash mounted clock listed as available. Doesn't mean they couldn't have added one for 1983, but it's doubtful.

I agree, I think that was just added since the car didn't have a radio or console clock.

Re: Ok fellas, let's look this one over...'83 Sport Coupe

The deal on the passengers side is just a small quartz clock that someone added. I thought I'd heard that cars without a digital radio (with a built in clock) got the console clock standard? I never verified that fact, but it sounds OK on paper. Judging from the rest of this car it could have easily been removed (the console clock). The digital clock is definitely aftermarket.

The dash pad in 82-83 has a square edge with a 'bead' edge that looks sorta like piping on a seat. They're VERY hard to find without cracks. The style on this car was used from 84-92, so it's pretty common. If you could see the defroster vent, you could tell if it's an early or late example of the late dash, as early cars used tapered seat phillips head screws, and later ones used hex head screws with washers.

That may very well be the ugliest third gen I've ever seen. From the hideous kick-on wheel covers to the whitewalls to the nasty cheap vinyl interior to my least favorite front bumper cover and steering wheel, and the radio that looks so cheap and chintzy that I'm surprised it's not in a Yugo. Were digital tuners REALLY not standard by then?

That being said, I can't believe it has a 5 speed instead of the standard 4 speed, as well as air conditioning. And seriously, what can you possibly tow with a carbed 2.8?

You think that's bad, my 86 Mustang came stock with an AM/FM radio with an analog tuner and the preset buttons that you pull out and push back in to set. You know, like you'd find in a 60's Ford, just with black plastic instead of chrome or polished aluminum.

And yes, that clunky Delco could very well be correct for that car.

Since we all like the wheel covers so much, what rims would be under these particular covers? I had an '83 20+ years ago, and I do not remember wheel covers like those. But the "CAMARO" in the middle reminds me of the normal hub caps that came with every sport coupe I remember. Do the wheel covers have a circle cut out of the middle, and have the standard steel wheels under:
rally wheels
hub caps

That's not a Camaro rally... they're probably off an S10. The Camaro version were 14x7's, and the openings were separate inserts. Also those caps are for the 15" Z28 style wheel. The Sport Coupe rally's had a different cap.
The rally wheels were a lot more common then hub caps.

it makes me want to get my 82 berlinetta running again. It looks good, but not $5000 worth of good. As far as the engine combo, my berlinetta with a carb 2.8 and stick was faster than a friends 90 2.8 mpfi firebird. Both really slow. I think it would be a fun dailey driver in the summer.
