Welcome to TGO. The first thing I see that's special is it comes with AAA protection from the factory!

I now need to look and see if anything really is special!

A 305TPI/Auto, T-Tops, 3.27 positraction axle, 4-wheel disc brakes without WS6. Russet Metallic exterior with Chestnut aero package. Should (or did) have the large hood bird on the hood. Does (or did) have UQ7 which is a factory subwoofer option (slide gain switch on the cluster along with special rear speakers and likely Premium Sound badge on the stereo faceplate).

Re: 85 trans am

According to my 1986 source (which can differ from 1985 - a year I don't have), it shows B20 consists of:
Luxury Trim Group: includes custom seat belts, deluxe split folding rear seat, custom front bucket seats, deluxe door trim, dash-mounted map pocket, carpeted door kick pads, adjustable headrest, door map pockets (with power windows)

I'm not sure that's really special on a Trans Am.

D27 is rear compartment storage cover

B48 is Luggage compartment deluxe carpeting: includes carpet inserts on side, rear panels and spare tire cover

DK6 is Interior roof console

You'll probably want to get the DK6 - if it's still there.

Re: 85 trans am

Someone else may have a better value, but I wouldn't expect a premium. Less than $100 for sure (from what I've seen). It's just worth saving, if possible, especially make sure it has the removable battery operated flashlight. Some like to buy one to install in their ThirdGen - even if it doesn't necessarily really add a lot of features itself.

Probably was a sharp car, in my opinion. But is missing some top-level features (WS6, digital cluster, CC1 T-Tops, for example).

ill look for the battery operated flashlight.it does have cc1 t tops.to be honest it still is a sharp looking car.it looks like a one owner car since it has a lot of original paperwork(in rough shape from it being exposed to rain with the t tops off in the yard but there including registrations up to about 2001 with the same owners name then a change to somebody in the family since the last name is the same)its in great shape for a colorado car with no rot anywhere. and the dash cluster in near new condition.its sad it ended up here since it looks like it was easily restorable when it showed up.

Re: 85 trans am

Correct. Sorry, I seen the CC1 in your list but mistakenly added that to the list rather than the optional seats.

With the original condition, if you happen to find the buildsheet (and it's any good) please let us know. Those help populate our RPO Decoder.

Thanks and good luck

Re: 85 trans am

It can be just about anywhere (under carpet, behind instrument cluster, on top of fuel tank, under seat, etc.) - if even in the car. Just thought if you dig into the car, for any parts, to keep an eye out and save the buildsheet if you happen to find it.

Sorry to hyjack, so I will make it minimal. I have the build sheet for my highly optioned original 29K miles WS6. Will that help with the RPO decoder?

Re: 85 trans am

Very much. We will be collecting all build sheets we can get. We've found that no one source appears to be complete (service manual, sales brochure, etc.) so we're pooling from all GM sources to make it as complete and accurate as possible.

You can email the build sheet to me at jt@thirdgen.org

Thanks for your help.

Re: 85 trans am

Grab the UQ7 equipment. It might not be worth a whole lot right now, but that stuff's going to be hard to find soon.

Remove the:

1) Gain switch on the dash.
2) Amp behind the map pocket on the left (it's a metal box about twice the size of pack of cigarettes).
3) Sub box enclosures located behind the sail panels.
