There were 8,925 TPI's made in 1989. I don't show silver as a factory color in 1989.

Re: 89 iroc

Post some pics. The RPO sticker inside the console door will have a paint code.

If it's silver, it's either not a 1989 IROC or it has been painted.

By GM, 0. By backyard rebuilders, probably quite a few. Unless they did a super job, it should be easy to tell what the original color was. Look inside the door jambs and under the hood. I'll bet you'll see it once you start looking.

Re: 89 iroc

Then the car's an 85, not an 89.

Where's the IROC-Z logo on the door, front or rear?
Do the rims have an indented line in each spoke or multiple?
Is there a 3rd brake light? where?
Door moldings? squared off and narrow or wide and rounded with bullet shaped ends?

Re: 89 iroc

Its been repainted or someone is trying to make it LOOK like an IROC. Your IROC logo is too low on the door and where are the stripes that normally go just above the ground effects?

Re: 89 iroc

The car has been repainted. That color was not available in 89. The rims are correct for an 89 and the VIN K also proves that. The fact the decals are too low and are black without stripes tell me that the car was probably painted. There was an option for stripe delete in 89, however, I doubt your car has that option. If you can't find any other color on the car, then the body shop did a complete repaint and hopefully did a good job. You can open the right side rear panel and see if there is any color in there with the spare tire. I think there is factory color in there.

Of course it's a repaint... Notice how the hardware in this picture is painted?

Peel the sticker. your factory color is underneeth. They masked off the stickers, but not the door bolts.

you cant order something thats not on the option sheet.

I don't know, I wasn't there when your car was repainted. Either they masked the decals before spraying paint, or they removed them and reapplied them. Either way, the factory didn't paint some of the parts visible in your pictures body color.

And no you couldn't order a car however you wanted. Go try to order a 2012 Camaro in hot pink with purple polka dots and let us know how that works out for you.

You asked a question, and you got answers. It's too bad you don't like the replies you've gotten, but it's starting to get more then a little silly that you're unwilling to accept what you're being told.

Convincing? You're claiming you have something that all the printed materials say doesn't exist. You've received expert opinions that it doesn't exist. You've posted pictures which we've explained show that the car has been repainted.

You stated that you "coulda ordered the car however u wanted" when clearly that wasn't the case then, and isn't the case now. You are the only one who's convinced the car was originally silver.

Re: 89 iroc

How about a picture of the SPID so we can see the RPO codes. That will put an end to it! No picture= No IROC, pretty simple. Picture with correct codes= extremely rare car. You know what I would bet on.

How bout we just let the guy believe that someone accidentally put the wrong paint in the sprayer at the factory and then put all the stickers on wrong and just said... "Screw it, Send it out!".

I don't like public reprimands, but I will make it here. DO NOT BYPASS THE LANGUAGE FILTER! It's in the board policy that you accepted when joining TGO. Using special characters to represent letters is blatant bypassing and will not be tolerated.

Camaroboy, you asked for help regarding how many silver 89 IROC-Zs were built and the question was answered. There were none. Your car is a repaint. Accept it.
