Doubting cars originality? Whats the truth? pics included
So im still not 100% sure if my car is an IROC or not, i keep getting mixed signals.
My car is missing the center console RPO sheet so that doesnt help my situation at all.
My texas title reads Sport coupe..
My vin number contains the H for the LG4 305 engine, which supposedly only came with a 4 barrel carb in the IROC Z
Yet all of my ground effects say "tuned port injection" under the z28 emblem.
My rear bumper has the marks where the "tuned port injection emblem once was" but it looks like someone yanked it off.
I found the following stickers on my door, the vin number on the door matches my vin number on the front of car, and the best info i got from it was that the car came with 16 inch wheels, and after some research i found out that the iroc was the only one with 16 inch wheels? although im not 100% either.
My dash has a light for choke, plus iroc decal
Can anyone shed some light on this? what else could i look at to check originality? Could it just be that my GFX and rear bumper where swaped at some point?
If they were then they did a hell of a job aligning everything, the paint wear matches perfectly also.. so im a bit lost.

What Drew said...if that's the right door, then the TPI stickers were for fun...

I have an RPO Sticker in my center console. You can look there. Maybe you do as well.

Did you read his post at all? In line 2 he states that he doesn't have the RPO sticker in the center console. Your response is only the 4th post in this thread and your telling him to look in the center console for his RPO sheet!!

I used to work for GM in Michigan as an analyst for the reynolds and reynolds system for the parts counters. In that system, which all dealer part counters have, you could input the vin and get all the rpo's for that car. You might try that.

The database only has later thirdgens, and Canadian thirdgens. In most cases if it's in the database, you can get the information using the search on www.compnine.com.

Like the others said, its a real IROC-Z. The 16 inch tire sticker gives it away.
The Tuned Port Injection sticker is a give away too. The first half of the sticker isnt lined up with the Z28 badge. No way thats factory.

Try looking in the engine bay. IROC's came stock with a wonderbar and triangular braces on the k member. I'm not 100% on this but I'm pretty sure.

When you're trying to document a car you need to use irrefutable documentation. VIN numbers, SPIDs & build sheets (RPO codes), and to a lesser extent permanent decals that aren't reproduced or sold over the counter. In this case (85-87 Z28/Irocz) the 16" tire badge proves the car is an Iroc since that's the only way to get 16" wheels on a Camaro in those years.
