Tan/beechwood plastic interior color shades?
Hi everyone,
Is there a difference in the color of the interior trim pieces for tan/beechwood interior pieces through the years or was the color of the carpet and seats just changed? I am looking at buying a set of door sill plates, but don't know if they are the right shade or not for my '92.
Thanks,
Jason

Any thing 88 and older is a different shade. You can buy any color and dye it.

Actually the beechwood tan color came out in 1988.The 85-87 Tan was called light saddle and prior to that I think it was called doeskin

I guess I gave some bad info! I knew the earlier ones looked a shade off, I didn't know it was a different color altogether. Thanks for the info!

To confuse things even more with the early cars you have camel (Camaro) and doeskin (Firebird). From what I've seen ,both in person and photos, they appear to be the same. I'm not sure if the names were interchanged between divisions.

1992 was a one year only color. you have to use 1992 stuff. Nothing else will match. Take it from me I am an expert on this. You can dye it, but you must order the proper dye for 1992, which is a different color than all other years.
It doesn't match 88-91 beechwood, or 85-87 camel. (It might match 1984 color, which shared same code 64, but I wouldn't buy anything from an 84 for a 92.)
For pontiacs,
1992 was called Light Beige, code 64C
1988-1991 was called Beechwood, code 66C, 66D
1985-1987 was called Camel code 62C, 62D
Don't try putting wrong shades in there it won't look right at all. The beechwood is really a saddle type color, like what you might see in a 1980's Mercedes Benz. The 85-87 color was lighter. like mixing some white paint into the saddle mixture. the 1992 color on the other hand, was not any variation of saddle or tan or camel. It was a beige color. Very greyish, (more like a toyota or lexus shade) particularly when compared to beechwood. Make sure you get 1992 stuff only. Call hawks or thirdgen ranch or someone like that, or go to the local u pull it junkyard, which has 92's in it still. i see them all the time.

Andre,
Thanks for the reply and photos. MY '92 Trans Am convertible is exactly like your green one in the photo. Before it, I had a '91 convertible and I remembered the seats and carpet being darker, but I could not remember if the color change moved to the plastic trim pieces, or if GM thought it was close enough just to leave the plastics the same. Thanks again for the help and comparison. I should have thought to compare the photos of my '91 with the '92 to begin with.
