My main question is: Did they ever make black GTA's with red interiors?

Has anyone ever seen GTA with a red interior, without a flame red paintjob?

I am also trying to figure out the possibilities for red (carmine) interiors in firebirds.

I know that from 1989 on, there were no red interiors in firebirds. From 88 on, no red interiors in gta's.

I have seen 87 gta's with red interiors, but only when the exterior was flame red. does anyone know the limitations for exterior colors on 87 or 88 firebirds with red interiors? And was there a special rule for GTA's? (usually gta had additional restrictions on color availability and combinations...for example, red interiors were not allowed in 88gta, but were in 88 firebird)

So, which exterior colors were allowed if you had a red interior, in:

87 firebird
88 firebird
87 gta


I have seen:

1988 Formula, black with red interior.
1988 Formula white with red interior
1987 GTA red with red interior
1987 TA white with red interior

If anyone has the dealer album for 87 or 88, this would have a color selector book which tells which interiors are available with which exteriors on which models. I have this for 89, but not other years. Some people might have the color selector book without the whole dealer album. It has a bunch of color chips, with charts that show which cars and interiors it can correspond to.

 

According to Frankie from GTASourcepage, who is really knowledgeable about the GTA, carmine interior was only available on the Flame Red Metallic when asking about GTAs.

As far as Trans AMs, I have a picture of a black Trans AM with red/graphite silver insert interior that I saved from some car show. The car has a window sticker and appears stock. I don't know the history of the car, however. The PHS documents do not (or didn't) give the color chart information, unlike that information being available for the Camaro side.

I have seen black formula with red interior, and was definately original car. (had 10,000 or less miles, and one owner. It was particularly neat because the formulas had colored dashboard parts too, which meant red in this case. On a ta or gta, the whole dash is black and grey, but on firebirds and formulas of the old days, the lower dash parts and glove box pouch would match the upholstery. If it was an SE, even the steering wheel would match)

 

My white 88 Formula came with Red interior... Haven't seen a black GTA with it though. My whole dash was red as well. I loved it...

Unfortunately, all the road bumps made my dash get brittle and crack around the AC vents... I ended up replacing it with a black AC delete dash. I would have kept it all red, but it was faded beyond repair. I converted to all black except for the Headliner and Door panels. And I am going to be replacing my black leather 4th gen seats with some red Recaro's... Red interior FTW!

 

I have some pix of a flame red 88 or 89 GTA with red interior. The guy is from STL Mo I think.
