Well this makes me quite happy.
Well this makes me quite happy.
Found out with some help from the user JTSK, my car is a 1992 RS, native V6, native 5spd (Currently an auto, but not for long!), and has a factory rear window defroster, plus a few interesting features, oh, what is 1SB? "OPTION PACKAGE 02"?
Codes to prove this:
FE1: SUSPENSION SYSTEM, SOFT RIDE
MB1: TRANSMISSION, MAN 5SPD, BORG WARNER, 76MM, 4.03
MM5: MERCHANDISED TRANS, MAN 5 SPD PROVISIONS
LH0: ENGINE, GAS, 6 CYL, MFI, V6
C49: DEFOGGER, RR WINDOW, ELECTRIC (As opposed to what, a non-electric ice scraper?
)
1SB: OPTION PACKAGE 02
NA5: EMISSION SYSTEM, FEDERAL, TIER 0 (What's Tier 0?)
GU6: AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO
My car has a few codes I find odd though:
E5Z: SPEEDOMETER ADAPTER (DELETE)
E9Z: SPEEDOMETER ADAPTER (DELETE)
However, I found out that my car has a few codes the RPO does not know.
1SZ - ???
1AY - ???
And one it did not even recognize
IPB - CODE NOT FOUND
Code sheet here:

EDIT:
Forgot to mention, according to this site my car is the 54,900th of 1992? Or Built at Van Nuys?

1SB, I believe, was a grouping of power/convenience items and A/C, at a discount. And, all '92's were built at Van Nuys.

Re: Well this makes me quite happy.
So, 1SB is basically some discount for buying a car with AC AND a rear window defroster? Strange. Does anyone by chance know the number of third gen Camaro's built in 1992?
My car was made in June of 92, and seeing as the last one rolled off in august, it's t'wards the end of the line.

If it is the same as Pontiac, the 1SB code for a V6 car includes the options C60-AC, B84-colored Body Side Moldings, and DC4-Rear View Mirror with Reading Lamps. However, I don't see the DC4 code on your SPID. Also, the C49-Defogger does not appear to be part of the option group unless it was a Chev vs Pont thing for the 1SB Package.

My data source is a 1991 (not 1992) Pontiac order worksheet used by dealers of the time. I have found it to be very accurate over the years. However, it is for Pontiac Firebird and Trans Am. Chevrolet may be different.
Re: Well this makes me quite happy.
I'm pretty certain it's inaccurate for Chevy's, though the chassis is the same, the cars themselves are quite different in some area's.

Why do our cars get tormented so much? Doomed to sit on blocks and rot away. It's shame really, they have a lot of potential. I'm quite certain with the right upgrades, a V8 third gen Camaro could keep up with today's super cars. And I know that these LS1 swap Camaro's in a lot of cases can blow the doors off of fourth and fifth gen Camaro's.
Our cars survived the 80's and 90's, they deserve better than this. The 80's where a dark, dark age, of synthetic music, big hair, flashy clothes, and Chevy thinking they where the "Heartbeat of America".
I know my car sat for quite a while, there's a wasps nest in the drivers side mirror... I need to clean that out somehow. Probably when I go to paint the car, I plan to have the body kit, mirrors, IROC-Z hood scoops, grill mouth, and headlight insets painted black, with the rest of the car red.
