As you all now, I have an 89 iroc with a 350 tpi. Trying to get it back to the way it was when it rolled off the line. I've gotten most of it but still have a few things to figure out. For all the guys out there with an 89 iroc with an unmolested 350 tpi, can you look to see what braces or brackets are on your engine. Mainly looking to see if there is a bracket or brace going from the back of the power steering pump to the exhaust manifold, one on the alternator mounting bolt going to the intake and any others there might be. Is there suppose to be one on the air pump? I know about the ones on the back of the alternator going to the exhaust manifold and the one on the back of the ac compressor going to the exhaust manifold. I'm thinking some years came with the braces mentioned and other years didnt. Looking for pics of all braces on your engines. I do know there is a brace going from the ac compressor to the intake that fixed a vibration issue that was installed from the dealership if you had that problem. Done searches but couldnt find any clear pics of the braces.

 

I'm speaking from a bird owners veiwpoint.
I haven't ever seen a brace from the power steering to exhaust manifold
I have one from my Alt to exhaust manifold
I've never seen one from the alt to intake on TPI seen it on TBI (have heard of it tho)
I have seen just 1 from smog pump to exhaust on a late 88 early 89 350 car
There is 2 on my A/C 1 to intake and one 2 exhaust manifold

 

Thanks for the input. When I bought my iroc, all the braces were missing. I'm the second owner of the car and the first owner put on some crappy headers and removed all the braces. I've since put the factory manifolds back on. Been trying to track them down and put them back on but I dont know which ones were on the car from the factory. I have all of them except the one on the alt. bracket to intake and ac compressor to intake. I have seen an 88 305 tpi camaro with the power steering pump to manifold but it didnt have the alt. to intake brace. I have a parts catalog for 89 model year and it shows pics of all the braces in the engine pics but in the parts list, it says some where on 88 model years and others were on 89 model years. Just want to verify what braces would of been on an 89 350 tpi. Also, my iroc would be an early 89. It has a build date of 9/88 on door sticker.

 

I don't think all cars had all the braces but im not 100% sure.

 

Let me tell you about those power steering pump brackets. They are a pain in the butt.
I took mine out but, still have all the parts. I'll do a count for ya and snap some shots.

Mine may be different than the tpi tho, car was origionally 5.0 HO carbed.

 

If yours is a 87 Vbelt and his is a 89 serp setup, they will be different.
