Re: Evolution IROC II

No longer made for a long time. Remember these are 80's aftermarket wheels. Just keep checking ebay. As for expensive, not really. I bet if you find a set, they can't be more than $400 from a nostalgic owner.

Re: Evolution IROC II

I remember when MT tested it right around 1990, just as the IROC option was to be discontinued. It was a turbo 4.3 V6, sort of a test bed for the GMC Syclone. 0-60 was around 5 flat, and HP was 300-350...more than the Syclone's 280.

It was a bad car, and MT loved it. I wonder what happened to it...

Those wheels are basically one offs. They're concept wheels. And thats a concept car, so it makes sense. You can see those wheels up close if you have Gran Turismo 4 or 5, and you get the IROC Concept.

Re: Evolution IROC II

kinda off topic but does it bother anyone to think that some of the most valuable thirdgens could somehow end up in the hands of people who didn't know what they were or how much they meant to the thirdgen community and could be cut hacked and modified in ungodly ways?

Those wheels are on project-RS's car.

Also, kind of interesting to see the origin of the dreaded swirlports in that article you posted up. Originally a performance trick for a Cavalier, used in a turbo v6... finally ending up as a low performance truck cylinder head. I have to assume they really did do a good job with swirl though. And without those swirl ports, GM would have never ventured into trying to replicate it in a less obtrusive way, resulting in the Vortec heads we all know and love.
