my custom front chin spoiler project

ive done a few custom projects on my 89 rs (hood, dash pad), and figured i mine as well make my own chin spoiler. i pcked up a 91 rs chin spoiler and decided to use that one because of the side scoops to match my side skirts. heres a few pics of what ive done.

looks good. what are your plans for the rest of the chin spoiler. i see you made the filler panels on the inside where you cut it lower than the rest of your spoiler. do plan to stretch your chin spoiler down as well

I can appreciate the work, but its looking a bit clunky. Kinda looks like a bulkier Roman helmet:

hard to see in the pictures, but what are you molding with - fiberglass ? looks like foam in the pic??

either way- think this is gonna look wild when done!

Re: my custom front chin spoiler project

its fiberglass. i started with wooden templates and started molding. once the first layer hardened, i took the templates off and started adding layers. there will be about 6-7 layers of fiberglass when done. should be nice and steardy then.

Ok, that is deff really cool and i like the look alot are you going to soften the lines at all when you sand it down or are you going to try to keep the sharp.
In your case i like the sharp edge from the front but could soften toward the side to flow with the fender and body lines....

really cant wait to see when done!

Re: my custom front chin spoiler project

the sides will be more rounded than in the pic. i have to get more resin so i can add more layers and then alot more sanding

Wish I had the guts to pull something like that off!!! I tip my hat to you sir...

I'd love to blend the 91/92 Z-28 ground effects (the scoops) onto my GTA.

Too many projects on the go right now hmmmm.....

Re: my custom front chin spoiler project

no. ever since i seen the "wrath" (movie) in the 80's, ive always liked the center section of the "turbo interceptor". im still in the beginning stages and i have a few more ideas that i want to check. right now i just want to get the main shape of the sides done and go from there.

primed the front chin spoiler. still have to sand it smooth and start doing the undercoat. gives you an idea of what it will look like

Re: my custom front chin spoiler project

once the weather cools down a bit i will do more. im thinking of going with a light metallic gold paint job. cant really see all the detail with a dark color. i still need to sand down the lip and add a few more layers of fiberglass. after the chin spoiler is done, im going to redo my hood and rear bumper.
