hey I purchased this 89 RS about 2 years ago and rarely drive it, I love the car and it runs / drives great but not worth the payments to me (I overpayed and owe $6500 still...)
here is a basic list of stuff on the car-
129K on the car , about 5500 on the engine / restore
358 SBC
holley 750 (?) mechanical choke (can have elev.) vac. sec.
borg warner T5
393 12 bolt rear
new paint
new brakes all around
new shocks all around
brand new exhaust from the headers back
lots of chrome :P
power lift-gate
new interior
no rust
new cooper cobra tires
and lots of other stuff
fiberglass cowl hood
high-rise intake
if you have any questions that would help just ask and ill try to answer them, thanks for the help

Re: help pricing 89 RS please
Here's how I see it.
The good: car looks SUPER clean, in VERY nice condition, and also very correct (except under the hood).
The bad: it looks to be a no-option car. The fact that it doesn't have air conditioning is going to turn off a LOT of potential buyers, particularly considering that the heater box and all a/c related components have been removed, making it very difficult to convert back to a/c (this is all assuming that it had a/c from the factory of course). I also assume that it was a factory 2.8 V6 car due to the general lack of other options, which is also going to turn off buyers looking for an original V8 car. The 358/5 speed combo sounds nice, but only until the T5 breaks. Most third gen buyers (I would think) are smart enough to know that a T5 is not going to handle anything bigger than a 305.
Good news is a lot of people buy cars on paint and overall cleanliness alone. I would probably ask $4,500 for the car and settle for as low as $3,500. But that's just me.

stock heads? cam?
very nice car. nicely done.
the ONLY problems i see are that the fiberglass hood has an obvious fitment issue at the front - other than that its a nice choice of hood. and obviously, since it's a Third Gen, some (any) kind of fuel injection would have been nice.
i would say that the car is worth more modded than original. i think that on your end $6500 would be a fair asking price. no reason why you cant get 5K or more as nice as it is. anybody who says that it is worth less because of the mods is f'n crazy.

I agree, there is absolutely zero reason not to at least ask what you owe for it, and I wouldn't take much less, even with the carb, lack of AC, and unfinished hood.
Very nice car, it's a breath of fresh air to open this thread and see such a clean ride.

Re: help pricing 89 RS please
Looks like a fun cruiser. The mods aren't to my individual tastes but it's clean and appears to be in great condition, especially given the miles. This is the perfect car for a guy looking for a Saturday night cruiser/drag car. It's also perfect for the guy looking to do a full custom build as it's a clean-bodied RS with an intact interior.
Ask $6500 and wait. Someone might bite. Realistically I think it's worth less than that (4-5k), but you might get lucky.
