I may be buying a well what looks like a trans am.
I.got the vin but the car is purple haze color but what I read they are only black that year.
U would assume if the door said it has 16" rims it would be a ta?

 

They were a bunch of colors - definitely not purple haze though.

 

Well its a purple color, and the tech articles said only black for the ta.
Well the car is only $300 and has the vented fenders. If its not actually a ta the parts will go for more.
Too bad compnine is down because I wanted to pull the rpo cores off this vin

The tech article was speaking of the wrap-around spoiler being in black, not the entire car:

Purple was not an available body color.

As far as Compnine, older ThirdGens weren't in their database unless it was a Canadian export. So unless this car was a Canadian export, that source wouldn't have helped.

 

The FW in the vin. means it's a Trans Am.

lol its VERY purple..like a bass boat with sparkle flakes..im having trouble because i bought it without a title...any ideas? ill get some pics of it up..also the kid who i got it off had a blowout and fudged up the driver fender a little...what performance mods did it have when you saw it? what motor?

 

if you bought it without a title its a parts car only. sounds like a ghetto fabulous paintjob, look in the engine bay for original color.

 

i can get a bonded title in AZ...u can tell the paint is no factory, it has runs here and there, it looks like fricken a bassboat paint all sparkely and crap, she will get a fresh coat soon ATLEAST they put the graphics on it after they did this stupid paint job.

 

Got to love the bass boat paint. That was very big in the 90's-glad that's over with LOL!

If the original plate is still there on top of the radiator support (under the plastic) it shows the original paint code.

 

86 didn't have the plate, I don't know what year they stopped,but 86 don't have it.

 

Yes, you are correct, they stopped in 85 because that was the last year of single stage paint. I have 85 TA on the brain!
