1986 z28 - one of 74?
1986 z28 - one of 74?
Hey all,
I just bought a 1986 Z28 that clearly says on the back bumper 5.0 LITER H.O.
All the stuff I read online is that there were only 74 or something the H.O. Z28s made that year? Is this right?
Is this a rare (I'm not assuming it's actually worth anything, just rare) car?
You guys know way more about this than me
Thanks!
Jack

Check for the dual snorkle air cleaner and check the VIN #. It will let you know which engine you have. Bumpers get replaced so the only way to really tell for sure would be the VIN. Also, all 86's were 5 speeds, so if you are automatic, you are just an LG4.

VIN tag is viewed from outside the car, through the windshield at the bottom on the driver's side. There will be a 17 digit metal tag. If the 8th digit is an G, you have the L69 "HO" engine.

Well I didn't think it would matter anyway since the engine was pulled and rebuilt and upgraded and all sorts of things . Dual Plane Manifold, Holley 650, Hedman Headers, Moroso Valve Covers, Accel Blueprint Distrib. And it's got 16" Cragers, All wheel disc brakes, etc. The guy did a lot of work to it before his wife made him sell it.
But it's an H. Just an LG4
I got a little excited there.
Weird thing is - the bumper looks to be original as the paint on this car is fairly faded and the bumpers fade matches.

I added silver 5.0 liter H.O. stickers to my '91 RS, in Z28 OEM spots, when I did some mild mods to it and had it painted. I thought they looked sweet
