Re: 13 Mile '87 Formula 350

This car has been for sale before. It is beautiful, but for show only. I'd want to give myself 10 lashes for each mile driven! I'm surprised a serious collector hasn't scooped it up though.

Re: 13 Mile '87 Formula 350

No matter how beautiful the car is, here inlies some of my issues with it.
1) it is a Base Formula, with the 350, I think it would be an easier sell with the power goodies...
2) What is up with the power antenna, if you watch the video, you can tell it is broken... which seems odd to me for being an 13 mile car.

Probably good iit has no other power goodies then LOL! As you know though, many Formulas were strippers. My 87 350 Formula had no power options either.

My oops, apparently it does not have a power antenna, but the antenna is missing and only the nub is there.

Re: 13 Mile '87 Formula 350

Was Pontiac using the Gray ***** in 82-83, I thought that was later.

The side-by-side configuration of the controls do not look right, that is for sure, and the dealer brochure shows the vertical *****...

good spot.

At $10,000 less, it would sell. It indeed has been for sale for some time. I love the color scheme, being an Earnhardt fan

But with no power options, $30k is nuts.

Formula/ Formula 350 = stripper= Big motor, best brakes and best handling with NO goofy options/ creature features.. lol
Options are for the "other" cruiser cars, not the real performance car of the line up.. ;-)

Re: 13 Mile '87 Formula 350

The power options added fully 100 pounds, best to leave them alone. But speccing the 350 means it has an overweight transmission anyway, rather than the T5. So, here's a 3100# car that should have been a 3000# car, or according to you, a 3200# car.

Very sweet find and sweet car, but $30K is a bit crazy IMO. I would never want that car as I feel bad putting miles on my car and it has almost 50K on it LOL!

I agree, at a big car auction that car would probably bring in the $18-$20K range, maybe into the low 20's on a very good day.

The car new was $13,000... according to the Government's inflation calculator that equates to $26,330 & Change today, May 30, 2012.

In reality I think somewhere in between.

Theres something about the drivers door when he closed it, it just sounded kinda worn for a "new" car.

I imagine that the owner removed the antenna so that he could cover the car...

Re: 13 Mile '87 Formula 350

That radio is the bottom of the barrel Delco AM mechanically tuned. Since by the 80's majority of cars were ordered with AM/FM radios, Delco never updated the Delco 2000 AM radio to ETR and thus retained the side-by-side control ***** while all the other radio options went to ETR with top/bottom control *****.

The later Delco AM radios with the gray ***** are pretty hard to find, but at the same time who really wants one??

WOW!!!!! Uhhh, no though. At $13k, yep, all day long. These cars are not on that level yet. Hold onto it for about 10 more years and then put it up for sale.

Oddly enough the Pontiac brochures did not show that radio with the side by side controls for the AM radio for 87, or 86... The earlier radios had black ***** however... It may be one of those things liek you said, there was no need to update the design... There was a total of 586 AM (Stereo) Radios in 1987 on Firebirds, not sure if the mono version still existed, but it was not listed in my info for production numbers.
