Is it really that rare
Is it really that rare
I have an 84 Berlinetta. It is all original, except the wheels that I changed. I also took off the whole smog system and the A/C ( it was R12 and had a non working compressor anyway) It has the digital dash, "zebra stripe" interior, camaro in embossed in the dash on the passenger side. center console looks more like a fiero, and it has T-tops. The factory swivel radio is gone.

The compressor was bad so you trashed it and the A.I.R. system? Why???

Re: Is it really that rare
thankfully here in Texas because of the age of the car it is only a safety inspection. As for the rarity of this model. I have talked to a few guy around here that have owned various camaros. One is a good friend who owned an 84 berlinetta and he didn't have the digital dash, didn't have the same console, nor did he have the "zebra stripe" interior. I understand that GM made 33,400 84 berlinetta's. But how many with that package?

Your buddys car might have been an 82 or 83 Berlinetta, since the digital stuff didnt start until 1984.

Is it really that rare
Being all hacked up and the parts missing makes it even less "rare"... seems like most of the cars on this forum any more, are like that. A damn shame if you ask me, even for cars that aren't particularly "desirable" or "sought after" on their own, like those.

Re: Is it really that rare
I see these "rare" questions so many times and on other boards. In terms of "world-wide" I would say most cars are not as rare as you think. In terms of within your local area, yea it could be quite rare. You may have the only one. I'm 99% positive I have the only black ttop '82 Trans Am with the 15" turbo cast wheels, bowling ball hubcaps, and deluxe interior with viscount PMD seats in my area. Does that mean I'm right? Not necessarily as there might be one hiding in a garage somewhere that NEVER gets driven or there could be one sitting in a field somewhere rotting away (hopefully I'll find it.) However, in the 10 years I've owned mine, I've never seen another one around here and neither has anyone else that knows my car. I'm 100% positive I am the only one with a KITT. In fact, ANY black ttop Firebird or Trans Am is super rare around here. So, when I found another black ttop in the same town, I bought it too.
So technically, my cars are rare here, but not necessarily world-wide. That's what keeps the prices interesting.

Rare would be something under 100, unusual is from 100-2000 Total over the 11 years IMHO.
