Ok Troops,,I just had a guy tell me that their were NO GTA convertibles produced from 87 to 92. Now before I get into a "throw down" with this cat, I want to make sure my ducks are in a row. I've checked all the books and numbers that I have and can't come up with something,,,,,,,,,SO,,,,,,,,,,,, How Bout It. Did a 3rd Gen GTA exist and if so how many?

First off, they weren't GM factory made, but they were authorized. ASC made them, so be sure you are arguing the right point lol. Second, there were no GTA verts in 1991 and 1992 no matter what unless they were really off the wall aftermarket.

Alex is correct no GTA convertibles in 1991 & 1992...

Here are the facts:
1) Pontiac got back in the Firebird/Trans Am Convertible game in 1991
2) Chevrolet got back in the Camaro convertible game in 1987
3) All Factory Convertibles were converted by ASC
4) From 1987 - 1989 ASC made Convertibles as a Pontiac dealer option. (& 1987 Camaro verts for Chevy Dealerships)
5) From 1987 - 1989 ASC made many GTA's into convertibles

So in a way, yes there were GTA convertibles produced. NO Pontiac did not offer a GTA convertible for the years they offered a convertible with an RPO code. Obviously only the 91-92 have the RPO, but the 87-89 would have been identical, regardless of RPO code. The problem was they were too heavy...
