IROC steering box
I'm finally getting around to going though the suspension on my IROC. The steering system is going to be the first area I address.
What is the correct replacement steering box for IROC's with factory 16'' wheels? I'd also like to confirm that the stock IROC steering box ratio is 12:1 with 2.25 turns lock-to-lock.
I've seen AGR and Flaming River steering boxes with 2.5 lock-to-lock ratings but not one with the 2.25 lock-to-lock rate.

Don't confuse "ratio" with "lock-to-lock" (and vice-versa).

Re: IROC steering box
Thanks one of the links had this info in it.
“XH” – 1985-1992 Camaro – 12.7:1 ratio (this box was also installed on Z/28’s and other high performance Camaros; it has slightly more steering effort required than the WS box.) NOTE – I believe this box was used on cars originally equipped with 16” wheels
What outlet do I need to go to so that I can find this box?

Re: IROC steering box
The online catalogs I have seen list two different steering gear boxes.
1. With FE2 or F41 suspension.
2. Without FE2 or F41 suspension.
Your IROC will probably show FE2 on the SPID sticker.
The problem I see with this is there's no differentiation between the "WS" and "XH" boxes (the difference between the two would be turns lock-to-lock). It seems from a rebuilder standpoint that they're interchangeable.
Would this be a real world issue? I wouldn't know.
If it's real important to you to retain the "XH" gear, I would find someone that specializes in rebuilding GM steering gears, give them your gear and drop some bills in his/her lap.
