Some Pics From the All Camaro Show.

Just got back from our club's Camaro show. We had approximately 170 Camaros in attendance.

Figured I'd show you some of my favorite 3rd gens there.

Here's my friend's gorgeous 1991 Z28. It's a 5.7, G92, hardtop. They just picked it up recently. The car is from Minnesota and has 39K miles.

This is what a PERFECT red custom cloth interior looks like. Note that it's red and not pink.

Here's my other friend's new acquisition. Also second owner. It's an '84 L69, 700R4, 3.73 T-top with 31K miles. It's pretty darned gorgeous.

Except for the pink seatbelt buttons, the interior is near perfect.

Here's another club member's former Colorado Highway Patrol, 1LE/B4C.

Here's the interesting thing about this car. It has all the 1LE stuff, but no JG1 Al driveshaft. It came with the steel DS.

Oh, what the heck. Here's my car as well....

All of those cars look great. Its also nice to see a decent 3rd gen presence at an all-Camaro show. The all-Camaro show I attend locally is quickly turning into dealership inventory if you know what I mean. But I can't get too offended, were all car guys after all.

For what ever reason, there is not that strong of a 3rd gen presence in my club. But I think that I am starting to influence them.

That nice '91 purchase, might have been a 4th gen had I not been around.

That's what we used to say about 3rd gens. on the late 80s.

Re: Some Pics From the All Camaro Show.

For a local club show, this one is pretty big. It'd be cool if one day you could be judged and certified in the way that Bloomington Gold is to Corvettes. Personally, I think it would good for the hobby and help enthusiasts strive to improve or preserve their cars. I know, I'm dreaming, but I've been mentioning it to folks in the club.

This sort of thing has to start somewhere, right?

Holy smoke... 170 cars for a local Camaro club... The Trans Am nationals gets about 400 cars from all over the country... I would say that yeah, pretty good turnout for a local club.

Last year we had over 180 cars, but we did it in partnership with a 5th gen Camaro club. That club was kind of hard to deal and partner with, so we did it on our own this year.

I only expect this annual show to grow. I hope we as a club can grow it and offer more at the show as time goes on. Judging and certification is one thing I'd like to see one day. I would certainly volunteer to be a 3rd gen "expert" if that were to be the case.

Re: Some Pics From the All Camaro Show.

One trend, or at least a trend as of 2008, some of the Camaro clubs, IE the national one, were going to be inclusive to Firebirds, Trans Ams etc...

I only partook in the 2008 back to the bricks in Indy, but was told this by Scott Settlemier{sp?} that they were going to be more inclusive to the F-body sibling.

Might be worth considering.

I'd actually be all for that, and have brought that up with the club in the past.

Re: Some Pics From the All Camaro Show.

When it all boils down, I think there are pride issues involved... IE whether it is a Firebird or a Camaro club, trying to merge two groups is like pulling teeth. You have a group of guys that are President, Vice President, Treasurer, etc, and they like their power, they do not want another group coming in and challenging that.

The best, simplest thing to do is simply throw out there that the club is open to all F-bodies, from 1967 - 2002. The Firebird is probably 1/2 the population of the Camaro, so it really is not going to be overtaken by a bunch of inbreeds... it is not like they are asking to include the Mustang...

In short, keep working on them, one thing I have learned, is you keep throwing out the idea, and eventually someone in power listens, and they claim it as their own and it spreads.

Re: Some Pics From the All Camaro Show.

Right, it wouldn't be a club merger, it would be more like allowing Firebirds to join. And from what I can tell, most club members have no problem with that. What the heck, we look over any Firebirds we see as intently as Camaros.

I'll have to bring that idea up again soon.
