86 5 speed trans am

did trans ams in 86 have a 5 speed option, besides the players challenge cars. I just bought a t top 5 speed 86 with the LG4 and it looks like original powertrain down to the factory holes in the trans tunnel, yet some have said they dont remember ever being a 5 speed option in 86.

Yes, the 5 speed was available.

What you couldn't get was a LB9 w/ a 5-speed.

Just for the record a manual transmission was available with ANY engine in the F-body except for the top Fuel Injected engine for every year.between 82-92...

Never noticed that; so that means that 84 was the sole year that every engine was available with a 5 speed (CFI dropped, and TPI yet).

yup... kinda... the I4 used the 4 speed... and 1982 they only had the 4 speed

thats what i thought. now i just need to decide whether to leave the low hp LG4 thats original to the car in it or yank it out and put the LT1 that is completely rebuilt in
