History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
I found this on e-bay. I know 90 was the last year of the iroc but wow! is this really worth this? I see it has only 9100 mikes and does look all there. I thought the verts only were offered with a 5.0? Also if you scroll through the pics he took a close up of the front suspension, The bushings are missing on the sway bar. A car with this low miles those should be in place I would think.
Nice car, but it's gonna be a few decades before it's worth $32k. It will take even longer since it's an automatic and most buyers of "toy cars" want a manual whether it ever gets driven or not.
Couple of other unexpected interventions on a low mile car - a connector on the battery, could be a quick-disconnect (not sure why anyone would bother with one of those, it takes about 8 seconds to unscrew the battery bolt). There is also a blue wire up by the brake booster, doesn't look stock because it's outside the loom.
These are nitpicks, but a low mileage car is that much batter when its unaltered.
Love how these dealership cowboys market these cars. Half that text in the description was copied and pasted off some Camaro site that they googled.
Totally pathetic that they have the trunk and hood propped up with a piece of wood. I realize these struts do deteriorate after time, but replace them and save the originals in a box for the purist. If you ask that kind of money, you should cover ALL bases, super clean car, detailed engine and bay, fasten the seat belts in the rear, line up the front seats and do become informed about what engine is in the car. Presentation is everything.
It's A 305 LB9 Not A 350,And You Would Think They Would Replace Those Sway Bar End Links Before They Took Pictures.
Just imagine you are interested and you took a test drive. All that banging noise that you would here from the suspension, then you open the hood to have a look and it hits you in the back of the head because the dealer forgot the wood stick!
The dealer is on something. The mileage is questionable to me. At 9100, the car should be in a much cleaner condition, unless the original owner just drove the car for those miles and didn't detail the car for 25 years. The driver carpet looks discolored, the engine bay is dirty and if you want to sell a car for top dollar, it needs to be in top shape. That includes functional hood and hatch struts and all suspension components in place and working. The luggage rack was an add-on and destroys the value of this car to anyone looking to own a last year IROC-Z vert!

I'm with everyone else, the dealer is purely on a fishing expedition. It's not that I'm necessarily opposed to the asking price, although it's very high for this particular car. But at the very least, fix all the little things and then do a magnificent detailing on this car so it's presentable.
It's the difference between a $9,000 car and a $20,000 car.
hmmm odd car.... I wouldn't let mine go for 32K. I want to be buried in it cheaper than a coffin !!
What's up with the hood decal. Its not the same as mine. Mine was built a bit earlier, maybe they changed them up? Everything in engine bay is swapped, battery is on wrong side as far as a 1990 Formula is concerned.....

Re: 1990 vert for 32k. Is this guy on something?
Camaro Battery is on the Pasenger side. Firebird battery is on drivers side for the TPI cars and the MPFI V6 cars... The LG4, LB9, L69, CFI Firebirds are all on the passenger side like the Camaro.
I am with Scott on this one, 1) The drivers carpet is trashed... At least try to clean it up.. 2) The Luggage rack looks like someone really wanted a Mustang GT... Very Tacky. 3) The Hood Struts and Trunk Struts? What gives there, you ask $32K for a car that needs help? 4) Anyone who takes it for a drive is going to ask about that Thump every time they hit a bump.... Heck for $100 more you could have nearly a perfect car... (If you left the luggage crap on there)
Differences between Factory ASC and Aftermarket ASC Convertibles
1) Factory trunks were black, Aftermarket were interior color
2) Factory sun visors were Black, Aftermarket were interior color
3) Aftermarket cars still had the seatbelt guide on the seats.
4) The VIN obviously
Feel free to show pics. However, if you're proud enough to "show off" your car in pictures, at least have it clean when you do it. I used to see people posting about how proud they are of their car and how much they love it and will never get rid of it, but then post pictures of it after it looked like it got stuck in the mud and was dirty, not vacuumed, and just really not an appealing picture.
If you want to sell a car for top price, it best be in top condition. If you don't care enough to clean it and prepare it for photos, what else have you neglected during ownership?
Man, you guys are a tough crew! Now for sure I'm not showing any pics of my car
I was just thinking the same... and now I have to detail my engine bay. Unfortunately, the original spray on the engine bay is bad from the factory, and lighter colors like white exacerbate GM's lack of attention to detail!
I've been to this dealer's Charlotte showroom; they charge to walk through. They have many nice cars, and this one is no exception, but the cars didn't appear to get any prep work. Instead, they seemed to present them as received by private sale, auction, etc. Also, the prices tended to be higher than normal for what they offered.

Put it this way, if your car is a cream puff, perfect car with all of the correct pieces and parts down to the valve stem caps and the length of the valve stem, don't be afraid to post pictures. If you have a 100K car that has been enjoyed and there are some things that are not perfect, but it is a work in progress, don't be afraid to post pictures.
Just do not represent it as something that it is not. Where people get their panties in a bunch is when they claim something that it is not, we will smell it like a fart in a car, and we will call it out.
Yes we are a tough crew around here, but if we talk trash about our cars and do not give them the attention to detail that we feel they deserve, why would anyone else do the same? We are the forefront of these cars, thirdgen.org IS the place where you learn what is right and wrong on a third gen. The History board is just for this example, let us tear it apart and we will tell you how to make your car better than it is now. This site is a big reason why our cars are going for more every year.

That is pretty well known about the under the hood paint. Heck my original paint on my 89 Formula 350 convertible on the sides of the hood is missing paint, you can see primer with the hood closed. My 87 Formula under the hood looked like crap, so I took it off and painted it... made it look a ton better... I also took glazing putty and filled in the waviness from the spot-welds on the strut towers, and painted them... is it right, nope, but it looks better...

is the battery terminal correct on this car? It appears to have some external connections made so you could easily jump the car or charge the battery. I'm wondering if I tossed my years ago because it was a pain in the butt or some dumb reason like that, never planned on keeping my car when I first bought it.

$5 just to walk through. I wonder if you get that back when you purchase one of his over priced gems! I work across from a local European car dealer. I have bought a Benz from him, he asks top dollar for his cars but he has a guy that all he does is detail the hell out of the cars when he gets them and fixes the little things. The car I purchased was 4 yrs old and it looked showroom, even underneath. A little TLC goes a long way when selling a car like this.
