1:8 th Scale Highway Patrol Camaro in box - History of toys?

This is a tough one to know where to post because it's not for sale but wonder if anyone else has one or knows a timeline?
Picked up today on offer up. Almost 19" long & in original box but a little smaller than my 1:8th scale MPC model.
I set up a little photo shoot like the cops are pulling over the modified 82 Z28 with guns drawn.
Anyone else have one or know anything about it?

The last photo looks like the cop is nude with a farmer tan. Reminds me of the Village People.

Old CHP uniforms. Pretty quirky all the way around but still old & pretty unique large scale Camaro

I think the Jada are about as big as I've seen, except for the Monogram lactic models.

Got to love the Ponch and Jon pointing guns out the windows. That would probably be banned if it was sold new today. Sad really

It is definitely a different toy. Originalprice tag was $18.99 & after a little research I think this was released in 1987.
The CHiPs look was what caught my eye. It's just a cool piece if toy history.

Re: 1:8 th Scale Highway Patrol Camaro in box - History of toys?

I've been hunting for some C batteries around the house. I haven't tried it yet but doesn't look to ever have been played with. I'll get some batteries this week & test it.
Came out of an 80 year old guys estate. It better work for tye $20 I paid!....lol.
