My VINs. Does this look right?
I have a couple of Camaros in the stable. The first listed is my current driver (such as is).
The second listed is a recent purchase.
Decoding is easy enough but I'll ask if I have it right. I don't quite get the interpretation of "non-passive" as the 5th digit in the 2nd VIN listed.
1G1FP87SXGN160954
USA, GM, Chev, Coupe, Camaro Coupe or Z28, Sport Coupe/Camaro, LB8, Check, 86, Norwood
1G1AS8715CL176520
USA, GM, Chev, non-passive, Berlinetta, Sport Coupe/Camaro, LC1, Check, 82, Van Nuys
Thanks in advance for any insights.

All new cars manufactured after September 1, 1983, where required to have passive restraint systems requiring no action by occupants. The two systems are air bags and automatic seat belts. The Secretary of Transportation mandated passive front seat restraint systems to overcome the public's reluctance to buckle up their seat belts.

That does Bob. Thanks.
At first that made no sense to me but having re-read your post, non-passive is correct. Just a good old fashioned manually operated set-belt. And the car was built in late 81/early 82 so I beat the SoT mandate.
On a different note, it's interesting to see that GM chose to describe the earlier purchase as a "Coupe, and Camaro Coupe or Z28, and finally a Sport Coupe/Camaro".
