Car: 89 Iroc
Engine: 5.7tpi
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 9 bolt posi w/ 2.77s
gear vins

can someone give me the numbers or letters on the VIN to help me figure out what gears i have in my '89 iroc? im wanting to get new gears and need to know. thanks

pull the cover and look. codes only tell you what it left the factory with not what's in it after 15 - 20 years

Engine: LT1; LT1
Transmission: 6 speed; 6 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.73; 3.42
if you still have the rpo codes that will tell you otherwise you need to open the rear end and divide the number of teeth on the ring gear by the number of teeth on the pinion. Or, you can find the numbers stamped on the ring gear and divide those by each other.
