Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Sounds like water in the fluid.

Probably not good; maybe bad.

I guess it depends on how the water got there.

Drain it before you use it and hope it got in there while sitting.
The water that is.....as it will eat up the clutches.

yea i know its been sitting for a little while. the guy told me to drain it and get a new filter just in case. its pretty open, i mean i can just look into it from the top (where there should be screws at some point i believe).

And now you're trying to sell this tranny to someone else? How come? Did you determine there's a problem with it? If so, I think it would be decent of you to mention that in your classified ad. If you don't, it will greatly serve to discredit you.

i mentioned it to the person who is buying it and picking it up sunday. we tried to take out the old tranny and we gave up after realizing that even after removing the cat and y pipe we would need to go even further by removing the header and my friend did not want to be responsible. so we slapped all my old stuff back together and i have not even touched the new one yet. i figure if i am going to be dishing out a lot of money to get a trans put in, I might as well go with a brand new one thats built up with a warranty. Im really not trying to screw anyone. if anything im screwing myself by not wanting to give the person i bought it from any troubles by trying to give it back to him. three people pm'ed me and i told them about the pink fluid. i am also including a brand new filter/gasket set and new fluid. good job looking out for people though, I always appreciate when people do that when I am trying to buy something.

I'm glad to hear you've been thorough with the buyer Without prior experience and the proper equipment, swapping a tranny can be a big job (but also a great learning experience). Good luck getting it sorted out.

Ive been making lots of deals all the time on line with all kinds of electric guitar and amp stuff, so I know all the implied rules and stuff and to let the buyer know EVERYTHING. I let him know the name of the person I bought it from and all the info he gave me, etc. if it werent for the long tube headers the previous owner put in my car, we prob couldve gotten it in fairly easily, but oh well, if they didnt wanna mess with anything else, thats their decision.

there is definately water in the trans mixed with the fluid. The problem is the trans cooler in the radiator. the water pump is actually recirculating the fluing through the engine. empty the block and you will find the pink stuff everywhere. You need to fix the problem quickly so teh valve body and the separator plate don't start to rust from the water. I know this from personal experience.

why do you say its the trans cooler?
when he bought the trans it had been sitting with the top of the case open, so more then likely the water is rain. the tranny has never been in his car, so why would his motor have pink stuff in it

That does make sense. I guess I should read through the question completely before I answer.
