Can't remember if I've posted this b4 but found it on a 92 bird parts car years ago. Makes interesting garage art.

That is very cool, thanks for sharing.
Was the car in a junkyard or did an individual have it?

Re: 8-27-92

Looks like either the last production day for the Van Nuys firebird line or the last day of employment for "Sal M.".

8/27/1992 was the last day of production for the Third Gen Firebird & Camaro as well as the closing date for Van Nuys plant.

Also, he apparently did more than one piece:

Re: 8-27-92

Very Cool!

Strangely, GM reported to Automotive News that 11 Firebirds and 11 Camaros were built at Van Nuys in September 1992. It is recorded under American production. I indicate this on page 193 of my book, under 3rd Gen Monthly Production.

Does anybody know what these 22 units might be? 4th Gen prototypes built at Van Nuys?

I don't think they would be Ste Therese units, as those 4th Gen units would fall under Canadian production. GM did report 51 units of 4th Gen cars for November 1992.

Re: 8-27-92

That is very likely shipping data that GM reported.

At Norwood It took weeks to clear the shipping lots at a plant and complete all the remaining cars through AGR.

End of the line at LOS is the Red Z that Leonard owns.

Re: 8-27-92

I do not question that Mr. Stevenson has the last production 1992 Camaro. I am aware that he has NL170008. And that GM likely informed Mike Antonick there were 70,007 units.

Of all my 1980s thru 1990s Automotive News issues, I do not recall that magazine reporting any auto manufacturer's shipping data. Only production and registration data were reported in separate tables.

There are several circumstances under which those 22 units could have been built after 70008. I posed the question to see if someone might have any inside insight.

See attached 1992 Camaro U.S. production totals reported to Automotive News by General Motors.

My question still stands. Does anyone have any knowledge about the 11 units of Camaro and 11 units of Firebird which were reported as built in September 1992?

Re: 8-27-92

Interesting...Ok what does Automotive Report say pertaining to August and September 1987. Lets see if it matches the official production record from Norwood.
