This ad got me wondering if any of the TTA cars got the newly introduced for 1989, RPO U1A CD player vs. the UX1 cassette player/steering wheel controls

All 1,555 TTAs had both the; UK3 Steering Wheel Radio Controls and UT4 Radio, AM/FM Stereo-RV Cassette.

I had a hunch that was the case, but why couldn't they have been equipped with the option/ Was it because PAS got a pool or bailment of cars? Was it because the cars when ordered, nobody knew of the RPO and built off the spec of the steering wheel control radio?
Curious.

Pontiac press notes to dealers said if ordered with the U1A cd players it would automatically delete the steering pod controls on the Trans Am or GTA to all Firebird trim models would get the base Firebird and Trans Am steering wheel with no pod controls. I guess GM or Delco never made a way of linking the pod control to the cd player there for the standard one would take its place.

When did U1A become available to order?
Steering wheel is different than the radio UX1 w/ Steering Wheel Controls, but is still leather wrapped, and not the base Firebird steering wheel.

The steering wheel on the GTA with CD player, pre-airbag, was the Four-Spoke steering wheel. Same steering wheel on the Firebird and Trans Am. The NP5 option simply added leather on it.

U1A was first offered in 1989 with the spoke steering wheel as mentioned like in your picture you posted. U1A wasn't available again until the middle run of 91 model production to 92. U1A wasnt available to order on 90 models according to dealer press information.
