88 GTA 5spd
Guys, I have a line on an 88 GTA, black on black, t-top, 5 speed, mechanical gauges, supposedly all original, great shape mechanically, interior and exterior except for peeling stock paint issues.
What would you guys estimate the value on a car like this? Things to look for?

Re: 88 GTA 5spd
According to GTASourcePage there was 809 1988 GTAs with the 5-speed. There is no known documents that split that figure further (i.e., how many had T-Tops, black, etc.,)
I assume you mean it has the analog gauges and not digital. However, note that they were all electrically operated. So the analog gauges are 100% electrically operated and is not technically mechanically operated.
For those not familiar, I'd check to see if it's an actual GTA. Not just GTA badges on a Trans Am as is so easy to do and common to sell a Trans Am as a GTA due to GTA being the top of the line and generally is worth more. Not that there's anything wrong with the Trans Am, properly equipped. If the SPID sticker on the inside wall of the center console is there, look for code Y84 to confirm it's a GTA.
Without pictures, it's not feasible to ask about value. Mint, excellent, good/great etc., descriptors get used when it wouldn't pass as such for someone else.

Re: 88 GTA 5spd
There was a total of 1037 GTA's with the MM5,
Black (41U) GTAs = 2489
Black Interior Cloth (19D) GTA = 1469
Without looking at it personally or good pictures... impossible to give a value...

Sounds like it's well on it's way to a full restoration. 135K miles, all original with peeling paint, yeah, it's going to need EVERYTHING. Might make a good driver or project, but if your goal is to have a NICE! thirdgen, it'd take a lot of time and $$$.
Re: 88 GTA 5spd
I should have noted that 809 figure I quoted from GTASourcepage does not include the export models as I don't believe any of them are included in those figures.
