Who designed the third generation Firebird?

Hi,

As far as I know the first Firebird was designed by John De Lorean (back to the future), but I'm curious about who designed our thirdgen Firebirds.

Anyone knows this history?

I'm sure it's in the book(s), but I don't recall any significant recognizable names. The overwhelming impression is that the design was the product of a team of people.

I thought that it was John Schinella.

Sure wish I could take credit, one of the best designs ever! All is not lost though as I did design the new Tesla truck in 2nd grade and I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night also.

DeLorean was an engineer, not a designer. The first-gen Firebird was designed---off of the basic f-body being produced by Chevrolet--- by a team led by Pontiac designer Jack Humbert.

DeLorean is credited as being the father of the muscle-car era of the early '60s, having ram-rodded the 1964 GTO into production over top of the protests of GM higher-ups who were too short-sighted to see the huge potential youth market provided by the coming of the Baby Boomer generation.

The chief designers of the 3rd gen Firebird were Bill Porter and Jerry Palmer.

R.I.P. John Z. You were one of the great visionaries of the automotive industry.

I thought Palmer and Porter designed the Camaro. John Schinella the Firebird. Porter was designer of the 2nd gen Firebird but was replaced by Schinella in the early '70s.
