Re: VIN decoder

I know this is an old thread but if anyone wants i have 4 VIN Decodes left from CompNine. I purchased the 5 minimum and now that i have mine i would be willing to run the RPO codes for the first 4 people to DM or post up their VIN's! I will send them back the same way DM/Public.

Attached is what I can provide, This is from my car!

For those not familiar, Compnine will show a vehicle's RPO (Regular Production Options) and build date for GM vehicles. They also have other makes. It's completely different from what is normally associated with a VIN check - such as Carfax that shows records for a vehicle's previous owner history and service records on file.

For our ThirdGens, Compnine's records are not complete. They only have records for approximately 1990 and newer ThirdGens. If the vehicle was an export, they are likely to have the record even if it's older than 1990. This has something to do with the availability of GM's records.

Looks like the build date is missing. Compnine shows
Build Date:1990-03-05 for this VIN.

Like I said above, it really only works for approximately 1990 and newer ThirdGens or exported ones. Your 1985 is neither so it's not on record. If you want some of the RPO codes and dealership information, you'll need to contact GM Archives and order an invoice copy.

Re: VIN decoder

Whatever happened to the RPO decoder this site used to have on the main page?

The RPO decoder did not tell you what RPOs were attached to the VIN (such as what this thread is about) and only told you a definition of an RPO that you provided. I'd have to log into the server to check if it's still around, but the problem was it required you to download the software and also have Windows installer installed. There was also no immediate way to maintain what was already in the database.
