1989 Formula

Came across this car today. It is a 39K car, 5 spd, all original including paint. Guy is asking $8500. Intriguing car, to me the price seems reasonable.... Anything particularly special about it?

Re: 1989 Formula

Has all the right performance options, im not a fan of red though thats the deal breaker for me, but the G80,J65,LB9,MK6,MM5,N10 codes are the best of the best you could possibly get with a 305 5 speed 230HP setup. $8500 sounds like a good deal with 39k on it. If it was any other color I'd jump on this if i had the space

That’s a solid deal on that car, you can’t beat the options and the condition of it.

Re: 1989 Formula

looks really clean. $8500 is fair I think, see if he will take 8000? I would offer $7900. I am not a big fan of red either but thats one clean Formula

That is a amazing deal. I'm not a huge fan of red either but that is a great drivetrain.

that is my dilemma as well, not a red fan, but it seems like a good deal, and would be fun to have sitting in the garage by the Iroc.....

Re: 1989 Formula

Saw this cart on a Facebook site recently. That car is a steal at 8500 if its legit.. Im suspecting something must be wrong with it we cant see or it would be gone by now. If it were close to me id be going to look at it with a stack of cash in hand, and im not even wild about 87-90 Formulas

This is what the owner told me about it yesterday....says the car is probably an 8 out of 10. Part of the issue is location, the car is up in the top of the "thumb" of Michigan, pretty much far away from anything...... His comments: "The spoiler is cracked. They were notorious for that...when I bought the car it didn't run well and the owner had no idea what was wrong with it. It just had a cracked Distributor cap. I put a new alternator, new Flowmaster Exhaust from the catalytic converter back, Replaced the shocks for the hood and in trunk, new tires and had the rims redone...had some Oxidation. Radio does not come on but clock lights up and can change the time, and the power antenna stays running...i have a brand new one for it

Re: 1989 Formula

If it runs decent you should get it then. Check close for rust, it can be sneaky and hide itself well

it’s still a 4.5 hour drive for me, but I won’t say it isn’t tempting. I also think he would move on price too....no rust, just the spoiler that is cracked.

Re: 1989 Formula

Sounds like a no-brainer at $8,500, based on the pix. Would want to see better photos of the driver's seat before I drove anywhere though. Only thing I don't like about it is no t-tops. I'm not a fan of Red either, but that didn't keep me from buying my '91 RS (current daily). I can forgive preference items when the price is right.
