History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Doing a cooling system flush and refill on my low mileage 83 TA. Curious if these are the original radiator hoses, what do you guys think? They look in good shape, wondering if I should replace them while I'm at it?
Anecdotal story - I had a 1995 K2500 pickup that, through 190,000 miles (and 25 years) had the original radiator hoses. The radiator started leaking (also original) so while I was at it I replaced the hoses.
After a thorough inspection I couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with those old originals. They went in the tool box for spares. They still felt like brand new hoses, not squishy, brittle, swolen, or anything.
So, I wouldn't have any qualms running those that you have if they aren't leaking. Carry spares? sure, but you probably won't need them for a long time.
Apparently, there is a company in the U.S. that can print the numbers on rad hoses, etc. I think u can buy a kit and imprint your own. Check on v8buick.com as I remember there was a discussion on that subject a while back.
