Carpet color issues
I have an 84 Z28, 50,000 mile all original. The build sheet and window sticker call out sandstone grey as the interior color, it has vinyl seats. The carpet seems odd to me, the main carpet color is like a light brown, but the console area, kick panels and floor mats are a light grey. The rear cargo area is the light brown also. Has anyone ever seen this before? Anyone else have a sandstone grey interior? I will try to post pictures, might be difficult to see the color difference.

Re: Carpet color issues
Yup, most likely faded. Pretty normal. The vertical pieces of carpet don't fade like the floors do. Grey carpets with beige tones in them would fade to the beige side. Similarly, the 82-84 charcoal carpets and fabrics fade to look brown.
By the way, if that's a 140-mph speedometer, and it looks like it probably is, then it isn't the car's original. It was an over-the-counter part, but not a factory option. If you didn't install it after you bought the car, or you weren't informed of the car's mileage when it was installed, then the car most likely has more than 50,000 miles on it. Car looks good though, regardless of its mileage.

Thank you LAFireboyd, I never dreamed carpet would fade like that. That is a 140 mph speedometer. I have the original, the previous (and first) owner must have installed it with 4,050 miles on the car, because that is the miles on the original speedo. To be honest I would love to put the original back in, but that would mean running the odometer up somehow, which just does not seem right. What is crazy is I have all receipts for everything on the car he ever bought, all service records, original bill of sale, recalls, even receipts for wipers and small stuff, but no mention of the 140 mph speedometer being purchased. Strange. Another strange one, he installed Seras Automotive overdrive, it still works great. Thank again for your reply and comment,
