91 TA options
91 Trans Am, AC delete, 305 5peed, t-tops, 4 wheel disc. WS-6 emblems. not a gta. 3.08 guessemating *revs lower then mine by 300 rpm. on the hiway crusin at the same speed.. i have 3.27(or so my RPO's says))
he dosn't have the RPO's for his car.. so i don't know much more about it.. he's getting fed up with it.. thinks on and off about selling it.. it's all stock.. except for the exhaust.. which is removed cats (he can't remember if it had duel cats) and 2 3/4 all the way back from the Y.. factory replacement muffler.. two dual crome tips (like newer t/a).. neways.. nothing special with this car right? (might consider getting rid of my 87 formula for this.. )
no way of getting RPO's off the vin, right?

... i dont' see the guy too often.. but we were discussing his rims and he has one "replica" one.. the old one got.. dented.. neways..
his front breaks are bigger then mine.. (?... just looked at them through the black t/a rims..) i've got the standard 4 wheel disc, 9 bolt rear... so does he.. (except for the front breaks)
both our engines look very similar.. (didn't look for an engine oil cooler line tho).. otherwise.. his is SD and mine's MAF.. and got the cold start injector...

Interesting.
I'd see if the dealer or Pontiac has any information on that car, its possible thats a 1LE. Slim chance, but it having the bigger front brakes, the TPI 5-speed, and no AC (which is really odd) thats a distinct possibility. Someone may have done that to the car after it was sold, but theres only one way to find out short of the RPO list or a build sheet in the car.

Quick update on the RPO's...
You can only retrieve them via the VIN if the manufacture date of your vehicle is ten years or less ago. I learned this info from Pontiac... couldn't get my RPO's from the dealer, so I called Pontiac directly. I was told that although my T/A was a '92, the codes couldn't be retrieved because it was manufactured in '91. If anyone knows of a way around this, please let me know!

sorry about the BS flag..
but people shouldn't reply on what other ppl tell them.. because THEY could be lying.. or too lazy to try their theory..
i think (just think.. not a should be) that ppl should try what they've told to see if it's possible or not before telling other people that..
have you ever gone to the dealership with a vin and ask them if you can get RPO's for that car?.. (and if they just tell you flat out to go away, u still don't know if u can or not.. or if you get that one ticked off guy at the counter.. )
neways.. sorry 'bout the bs flag again..
but i did get the RPO's ... no 1le in the RPO's but it's got the front 1le breaks (guessing that it was put on after.. the car has had 11 years for that to be done to it) and well.. nothing special about the car except the AC del..
i think i shall hang onto my car for a little while longer.

i think i shall hang onto my car for a little while longer. Heck, don't worry about the bs flag.. I was more kidding than anything. As a rule, I don't take anything that any one person tells me as gospel, but in this case, I was told in person at the dealership that they were unable to retrieve it... sat and waited while said person tried to look it up, then I went home and called Pontiac directly and was told the same thing. Both times I was given the "ten year rule" as the reason. If you were able to get yours, great! I wish I'd had your luck! Seems I remember seeing a post from someone here with a scan of a PHS document that had RPO's listed, tho... so that will be my next avenue of research.

Bird_of_Prey, the reason you can get the RPO codes on your car is because you are in Canada. In fact, in Canada, you can get a copy of the RPO codes from GM Historical Services back to 1942.
The reason these records exist in Canada is for the various Import and Trade Treaty regulations between Canada and the US over the years. And the various manufacturers had to keep track of the cars that came into Canada (since almost all were primarily built in the US) and also of the cars built in Canada (like Beaumonts, Acadians, etc). GM legally had to keep the records for 7 years and never got around to destroying them. Then, with the advent of "car collecting" and all the requests for the RPOs, GM decided to offer Historical Services Dept. in Canada for the general public. They even can tell you how many cars had each individual option (but not combinations of options).
For example, 702 T/As and GTAs were brought into Canada in 1991. (T/As and GTAs are the same model). Of the 702, 463 had the Y84 GTA option. And of the 702, 221 came with the L98. What they can't tell you is how many of the 463 GTAs had the L98.
The problem as I understand for the US is there was a fire and many of the records were destroyed (not sure if this is for all GM or just Pontiacs). PHS has SOME information, but a lot was lost.
