Screaming Chicken
Hey guys. I have a 1985 Trans Am.... It's still the orignal paint-- gross Dark Auburn. (at night it doesn't look that bad, but it is a very "pretty" colour of brown during the day...)
Anyways, if you stand at the right angle, it is blatantly obvious that at one point there was a screaming chicken on the hood... I was under the impression they stopped putting chickens on hoods after the 2nd Gens.... Did someone put the thing on and take it off, or did it come stock and someone took it off?
Thanks

I believe that a full hood bird was available from 85-86 (i also want to say 87, but im not sure...), it is only a matter of time before some one posts a pic A few owners on the site have them on their cars. I like em...

I think it looks pretty good too. Although like i say, the previous owner of my car took it off... And didn't do a good job, the outline is realllly obvious as long as you're at the right angle... I'm still thinking about what i'm going to do with the car-- Picked it up for cheap, mechanically sound but visually not so hot... Gonna put some 4th gen seats in soon, thinking about a ram air hood and paint.... When it's all said and done it may have a screaming chicken on there again

87 too
I can vouch for 87's also having the full hood bird as an option.Rogue Leader's 87 T/A had just about every option one could get that year including a hood bird.

When GM dropped the powerbulge hood for '85, they thought what better use of the space than a big screaming chicken... I kinda like em, but lotsa people think it goes along with the hick stereotype... well F*ck em! Anyhow, you can order the decal or the entire sticker package from phoenix graphics at: http://www.phoenixgraphix.com It's a little pricey (Like $160), but it will do wonders for the apearance of your car if you're into that thing. I'm gonna be putting on the '84 TA package this summer after touching up my black paint me thinks.

Screaming Chicken went out with the 2nd gens, they were rather elaborate and huge, I would like to think of the 3rd gen version as the "kinder, gentler chicken" instead. The design is easy to look at and not overbearing.

I thought my old '87 Formula USED to have a screamin' chicken on the hood but i guess it was removed or painted over (in either cases real half-assed) but you could still see the marks where it was. I still have the RPO sticker in some of my paperwork. WHen i get curious i'll run all the codes.
Oh yeah that's a ****in sweet trans am you go there, 85TA.......

The Formula should not have the bird, unless someone replaced the hood with an 82-84 T/A
