92 z28 convertable heritage edition worth $17,000?

I found a 92 z28 convertable with the heritage edition near me for sale. It has 22,000 original miles. What is this thing worth? the guy is asking $17,000 for it. I found it in this months issue of deals on wheels. The car is located in Flandreau, SD. One owner car, red with black stripes, grey leather, 305 of course, auto. Is this guy out of his mind or does he have something there? I can see in another 10 years, but not now.

The guy needs to set down his crackpipe if he actually thinks its going to sell for that. In the last year and a half there have been at least 4 91-92 fbody convertibles that have sold under $7000, some under $4000. The low mileage variety (mint condition) bring between $10,000 and $15,000. 17 is off the deep end...

a car is only worth what someone will pay for it; he obviously doesn't want to sell it..........just looking for that sucker who has no idea.

people like that i despise, no problem in getting what you deserve; but come on.

For some reason I knew you were going to reply first, Drew. LOL
I wonder if its not the same guy that bought one of my friends black 92 Z. He was from Flandreau and I guess he had a few stored away. That guy was nuts too, he paid him 9,000 for a pile that looked good. The car was about half of mine. I about crapped my pants when he told me what he got. Not only that the cheesehead only paid $6500 for it a year in ahalf before that. We both bought our cars from the same crooked dealer who still cant get rid of a 92 heritage 350 car. LOL Nice car, crooked dealer. (bad combination). Later Rod

One thing I've noticed around here... There are some crackheads that have thirdgens with one little thing they think makes them worth so much more than other thirdgens, but the cars are POS's but they still think they're worth a fortune. Then there are the crackheads that have a really nice really clean thirdgen, and don't know what its worth or what it really is.

For example... There's a guy here in town with a 82Z Pace car, CFI, nothing really special. Somewhere short of 100,000 miles. With a HUGE dent in the drivers door. The rest of the car is fairly clean, but its a daily driven car. Somewhere he got the idea that every year after the Indy 500 the value of his car goes up $10,000... and he thinks EVERYONE is ALWAYS trying to vandalize or steal it, cause EVERYONE wants his car. Freaky.

Theres also another kid that bought a 92 RS Convertible (non heritage) from a guy, V6, pretty base for a convertible. Anyway all the kid does is brag that "its a 25th anniversary..." Just like EVERY other 92 Camaro.

Another guy has a yellow Iroc... He wants to paint it purple cause "there are 3 yellow Iroc's in town, but no purple camaro's"
hmm... right...

Some people just really don't have any idea what they have, or what they're worth.

I wouldn't buy it even for 1/2 that...no t-tops

Seriously though, regarding the 25th comment by Drew. I was talking to a kid one day who told me he had a 30th Camaro. I said jokingly "Really, what color?" He said silver...needless to say, I had to set him straight.

DOH

I don't know much about the Camaro's, I'm a Pontiac guy, but the silver 30th sounds familiar. I delivered some furniture to a guy with a silver Camaro in his garage. It was pretty sweet with SS hood and everything. It had anniversary seats and everything on it, but I can't remember what it said. It was a sweet car, though.

Ok, starting at the top....

All 97 Camaro's are 30th anniversary cars... the 97 heritage cars are white with orange stripes.

The L03 was the base convertible engine till mid 91, then the LH0 was the standard engine.

And Jim, if you think you can find a mint condition 91 convertible thats been babied since it drove off the lot with the original tires, and very little wear for under $10,000 you'll be shopping awhile. Besides that I'm not really all that interested in selling it. My asking price gets rid of the idiot kids and joyriders that I wouldn't sell the car to anyway.
So its an RS, a Z28 would have hood blisters and TPI, woohoo... big deal.

Yeah I would have to agree, I keep my car marked up when kids come around asking. Like i would sell something like that, just for money and watch it get trashed.

$17k is pretty steep. Good 92 Z28 ragtops are still fairly plentiful if you look. If this the one I'm thinking of the guy has had it forsale for about 2 years now!
However, if anyone wanted to thrwo 17K my way I'd part with my 92 Z28 convt, white, red leather and only 42K miles!

Oh here, 8K cheaper!

I found a beautiful 92 RS vert 25th Anniversary Edition, red with black heritage stripes, 305 tpi, T5, not sure what else. Anyway, the car had 1,900 miles (nineteen hundred, no typo). It was a guy's show car. It ended up selling for $19,000. I got the Formula in my sig (16k miles when I bought it) for $9,500. I know it's not the Anniversary Edition, but still--$17,000 is a lot for the car in question.

First, all 92 Camaro's are anniversary editions, they all have the dash badge. The only 92's that should be noted for special packages for the anniversary would be the heritage cars (aka stripes, special colors, exterior 25th badging)

Second, The TPI was only available with the Z28 in 92, except for B4C RS which werent' available as a convertible.

I just checked the picture I have of the car and you are right--it was a Z28. How do you know so much?

I got my first Camaro in 1995 as a Junior in highschool... I started reading books on Camaro's within a week of buying the car. I've been on thirdgen.org since mid 96... Since then I've been reading pretty much constantly, and have had 5 different thirdgens... For the past couple years I've been concerned mainly with the Firebirds.

Everything I know is on this site somewhere or other. Its jsut a matter of finding it.
