92 Purple B4C

I was at the World of Wheels in Minneapolis, and I spotted this.

One owner, 1500 miles. He bought it for 16 new(or around there); he said he thinks it's worth around 40 now.

I'll put up some more pics later.

That's Bob Jasperson's B4C. He has a 2002 35th LE and a host of other cars. He's a great guy but doesn't get the cars out very much. He has an awesome collection of cars for a truck driver!

She sure is a beauty. You can tell those miles weren't in inclement weather.Cars like these show you how they came from the factory. But one question is it me or is there no wonderbar?

Wonderbar is there. You can see the two lower mounting bolts on the picture of the rear end.

There shouldn't be a wonderbar. The wonderbar was IROC-Z specific. Bob lives south of Minneapolis, so the car has a chance to be in bad weather, however, his cars rarely see sunlight!!

I can guarantee that he had the car trailered to the convention center in an enclosed trailer. I already have dibs on that car if he wants to sell it.

That's interesting scott. So after Chevrolet lost the license to use IROC and the Z28 reappeared, was it in late '90 or'91,the wonderbar disappeared? It would seem such a beneficial handling part would have been kept. But then Pontiac never saw fit,or the sense,to use them on T/A's.

Even in purple, that car is gorgeous...

Quick question: in 1992 was it possible to get a Z03 B4C? If so that would be an awesome awesome car!!!!

You could get a Z03 B4C if the Gov't wanted one, but none were built. The whole point to the B4C to not draw attention to them while they patrol. They wanted to fit in. A Z03 edition would be flashy and draw attention.

The wonder bar is IROC-Z specific. It was not used on 91 or 92 Z28s. A few have shown up, but they were more than likely added by the owner. The wonderbar disappeared in late 89. Remember, no 1990 Camaros were built in 1990.

Wonderbarly speaking, in 1989 both the Camaro and T/A had wonder bars and 36mm sway bars. I can swear they were used in 90,91,92, but I Will have to check now and see.

Is the "wonderbar" the torque arm???? I am a little slow on these technical terms. lol If it is, they have them in 91 and 92. When I pulled the trans in my 1992 B4C, I have to remove it from the tranny mount. Like Hylton said, you can see the 2 lower mounting bolts on the rear diff.

No, the wonder bar is located where the front sway bar is. I'll go into more detail when I get home.

Here's a pic of an aftermarket Steering Brace(aka wonderbar)

yes, the wonderbar is a peice that attaches underneath the bushings for the front swaybar pulling the front end tighter together. The same bolts that hold the swaybar bushings in also hold in the wonderbar.

I added one to my '85 Z28. Easy job.

Ummm take a look under the hood pic

Now I am by no means certain here guys, but if you close at the under the hood photo, the rubber hood bumber in the bottom left of the pic (car's right side) has a pile of paint over it.... Now I was wondering if any gm would leave the factory with overspary in that area. In many cases those rubber bumbers are a sure give away that a car has had some sort of spraying done - what do you guys think....
Never the less a great B4C
-Andrew

Trans Am's never needed any gimicks like the "wonder bra", WS6 rules the world!

Actually all rubber bumpers do have paint on them from the factory. It gets rubbed off the top from the hood closing on it.

There were a few Heritage Edition 1LE's made. I've got one and I know of at least three more. I know of two red ones and two white ones. Mine is red (black stripes) with a black interior.

Just like CAMARO didn't need a TV show with tracer lights to sell their cars.

This better not become a pissing match over which car is better. I might have to lock it if it goes down that path.

Seems like I've read somewhere, probably on here, that they improved the frames on the later cars, maybe the bar brace wasn't needed? Sure some fine looking cars at the show, that 68 or 69 Z is nice.

It's strange. On the factory built race cars, both the wonderbar and 36mm sway bars were installed on both the camaro and Trans Am. There must have been something to it, even in the later years.

Or else GM just wanted to make sure the race cars looked great taking on those corners.

Strange they never installed a strut tower brace for racing.

I'd like to spend a day crawling under that car and documenting where all the factory marks are.

Mark.
PS. I have heard there was a 1992 purple R7U car. Quite a rare find. 1LE, R7U and purple!
