380hp 305cui!
I searched Croyco Camaro & came up with 4 threads mentioning it, but most were 'Huh?'...."Never heard of it.'
Well....I scored a HUGE magazine collection, with a handful of 70s & 90s issues, but almost ever Hot Rod & Car Craft issues from the 80s.
Without further adieu...I introduce the Croyco Camaro:The Equalizer Think of it as a ZR-1 in sheeps clothing
Designed & built by Croydon Kemp, he actually preferred to build them with 305s instead of 350s and used to worth for Shelby American on the GT40, GT-500 & GT-350 racers. And that is just the tip of his credentials!

Re: 380hp 305cui!
Agreed, looks like they corrected the elapsed time but left the MPH what was actually recorded. My car now dead hooking weighing right at 3300 pounds does 13.5's at over 100. Something isn't right here. BTW this article made my day! I really wish Chevy would've poured more time into the 3rd gens or kept the body style a little longer. The LT1 4th gen combo just doesn't do it for me.

Re: 380hp 305cui!
I'm not really seeing 380 HP just from a throttle body, runners, exhaust and a chip. And I'm really not seeing anyone reputable preferring a 305 over a 350.

Re: 380hp 305cui!
I agree the only reason I could see a 305 being is preferred is because of the 5-speed, but otherwise no way, and what I can't figure out why would they start with RS considering it could only be had with tbi

It may have started life as a TBI, but siamesed runners were put on. And.....B4C RSs did come with TPI.

Re: 380hp 305cui!
Interesting article. Thank's for posting it.
Near the end it states they'll accept 305 or even the 350. I wonder how the same mods on the 350 would have compared.
Regarding the 1/4 mile time & speed. Numbers like that seem to dictate tons of power (torque) off the line and during the first 1/8th, and then it seems to fall flat at the end, but the time is saved from a great launch. I'd be really interested to know what gearing ratios they are using even though the article doesn't mention any mods to them.

I suspect that either the result was lots of bottom end, no high rpm for the low E.T. but slow mph....or they blew the T5 & coasted through the raps!

Re: 380hp 305cui!
hmm 302 makin 500 hp with only a 3 inch stroke and 2 4's and old points distributor. question how many cubes are indy cars? 295 277?
is there such a thing as rod ratio ? could duntov have known a secret ?
cubes are not the only way to make hp .67 z28 had a 327 block with a 283 3.00 stroke crank.and a 4.00 inch bore rod ratio is the aspect ratio between the stroke and the bore . then throw in some cam timing and valve train geometery and wala more horses from a smaller motor .
ever look at a hp curve on your cam spec sheet and see where it drops off if you get it right that curve is what you set everything else up by . what gears where in this car ?did they use the tbi or did they use a bigger one ?
and a 5 speed would for sure put down more of the produced power at the flywheel to the rear. automatics loose about 15 percent dont care who builds it nature of the beast. just as a gasoline engine only burns 25 to 30 percent efficiantcy so every tank of gas is wasting 3/4 ths of what u put in. o well time to quit ramblin.

The same has been asked & I replied in Post #10...."Page 2, bottom left...3.45 posi.....Page 2, bottom left...3.45 posi
I think the pic pretty obviously shows it as a TPI.

ya 380hp out of a 305 is not that big of a stretch but i know they didnt get that with the listed performance mods!! i think they are leaving out some details.
