Throttle Body Question
Hi everybody.
I'm following this forum since 2010 and it is quite amazing. I learned so much from reading your posts here and now i have a question. I've read several post about throttle bodys and i'm a little bit confused.
Ok here is my situation:
I have a 1988 Trans Am GTA 305cui 5 speed manual transmission with almost 49000 miles on it.
Mods done so far:
Edelbrock Tubular Headers, 3" Magnaflow Exhaust, 180° Thermostat and a JET fanswitch, KYB AGX adjustable shocks, Eibach 1" Lowering Springs.
Currently working on the intake, Edelbrock Performer High-flow with runners, just polishing and gasket matching, no porting or siamesing because i don't change cams and heads. I must say that i'm not looking for super performance, just a little bit over stock that's all.
Now, my stock TB look ugly on the new intake and the cleaned Plenum and i wanna buy a new one but Summitracing only has 52mm and 58mm.
My question is: Will a 52mm TB work with my actual setup without problems ?
If i have to make changes to the PROM that's no problem because i have all the hard and software needed to edit and burn PROMs. Thank to TGO.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards

Re: Throttle Body Question
Maybe save some $$$ by spending some time cleaning yours up and then buy a fancy top plate for it?

While you have it apart consider removing the ugly hose spigots from the IAC housing and then polishing the housing

Re: Throttle Body Question
Will work fine but most consider it a waste of $ on a basically stock engine

Thank you for the fast reply. Yes i know it's not cheap and i already have a plate. It's like spraying parfume on a pig.
If a 52mm TB works it's ok i'm not looking for performance anyway. Should i gasket match the Plenum to the TB or just bolt on?Regards

Re: Throttle Body Question
IIRC a 52mm TB bolts on without mods
you may want to consider the popular mod of taking out the EGR humps while you have everything apart
