Yes, you heard me right

I would like a cracked camaro dash for the purpose of posting a tutorial step by step on how to refurbish them. I am experienced with restoration services and techniques, but the dash in my car is too far gone, and is not a good candidate.

I would rather have one I can pick up within driving distance to dallas, even if it's houston, san antonio, Oklahoma city, or anywhere within a 5-6 hour drive. If it's farther away than that, I might as well have it shipped.

I need something with moderate cracks, not canyons and major warping

I know somebody has to have one they took off a car that was too good to throw out, but not as good as the one they have on their car right now.

remember, this is for a good cause, I want to post the step by step procedures for thirdgen.org.

I'm not expecting charity, but I certainly don't want to pay what they cost in good condition.

Camaro ONLY? I have 2 Firebird ones.

What are you going to do with it, after you are done? Is this for your personal car?

 

Is the firebird the same as the camaro? can't remember...

If you've got two.. about about you give me both of them, I'll fix both, and give you back your choice.

FYI, camaro and firebird dash pads are different from 87+

They are the same material though

They are different. My speaker grilles are separate piece that fit in the dash pad, not "just slots" in the pad. And I think the Camaro ones have a "notch" in the center interior edge where the Firebird ones are straight across.

I know one of the dash pads has busted speaker grilles, but I don't see why they couldn't just be covered over & the slots cut, to look like the Camaro ones.

 

If they will mount up just like the camaro ones, we still might be able to make a deal

They don't mount the same

the firebird one isn't as deep as the camaro dash is

what years are you lookin for i work in a junk yard and have many dashes

 

I think any camaro from 82-92 uses the same dash, so any of them would do, but most likely the newer the car, the less brittle the dash will be

 

i found somebody locally that was nice enough to give me a decent dash for FREE today. It's already better than mine, so this project is ON

the new dash has holes in the speaker covers, but my old one has perfect speakercovers...go figure...

so I'm going to cut them out with a dremel,and transplant one to the other... should be fun

I started tonight... Unfortunatly, the new dash has busted out speaker boxes, so I'm transplanting my old ones to the new one... trickier than it sounds..

yeah, check the thread I linked to a few posts earlier, the glue didn't fill the cracks as much as I was hoping to. I think it needs some sort of sandable filler to put over the glue. I didn't want to try sandable primer because I thought it would crack, but something else is needed in the process before the bedliner goes on

 

82 - 84 Camaro dash pads have beveled edges. 85 and up they are more rounded. Just thought ide share the info
