There's really nothing majorly wrong with the mirror itself except the glass has some dark spots showing through from the backing.
I'd like to replace just the glass if possible, but I will buy an entire mirror if needed, as long as it's in really great shape. I actually bought a new mirror from Rockauto, but it's a different shape and the power wires are in a totally different location.
Here's the type I need. You can see the dark spots I mentioned. This is for an '89 IROC.
Go to the local junkyard and pull one from a similar vintage GM car. You can even try Fords. Those rearview mirrors were usually made by Connelly? (spelling)
Go to junkyard and find a mid 90's Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass. Pontiac GP intermediate and swap out the glass. It is the exact same size. It's what I did to my auto-dimming mirror. They come apart real easy and you can throw in some LED's for you mirror if you want. I should note the third gen snaps apart easy (take your time) the mid 90's mirror is a pain to get apart as it is a solid chunk of plastic. Dremmel it or a hot knife it apart. Also if you find one with map lights they may be the same if the style is the same. Can't confirm the connector is the same though. Junk yard scrounging is fun either way.
