How did you dye the plastic parts on your door panel? Fabric dye doesn't work on that, does it?

I used duplicolor vinyl and carpet dye my door panels or vinyl with fabric it works just fine but u have to do several coats. My passenger side door the 3rd pic actually needs a coat or two more to match the driveside. For my interior panels all the plastic ones i used krylon fusion and applied three coats on each panel. The end of the week im putting in my 4th gen 6speed console and will be dying it black also. Then i plan to do some chrome accents thru out the interior.

We paint door panels all the time.

My dad's 84 camaro. He had brown vinyl door panels and arm rests, and wanted them black. 2 cans of black duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye later he had stock looking black panels.

He switched cars, to a 82 firebird. He wanted white panels, and red arm rests, so we took off the door panels of his 84 camaro (the brown ones that was painted black) and bought 2 cans of white vinyl spray dye and 1 can of red.. Now the door panels are solid white, arm rests are black. And looks great.

My 88 camaro has cloth and carpet tan door panels. I painted them black and red two tone. The cloth part I painted black and the carpet part I painted red. I used reg. spray paint to do that with and it turned out good. Just brush over it with a brush after each coat drys, before you put another one on, so it dont get too stiff.

On all the plastic panels on door panels, and through out the car we used reg. spray paint from the dollar gen. store

If anyone does dye any of there plastic or vinyl pieces make sure to start with a light coat. It is very easy to get runs. Then just keep applying coats untill u get the color u want and there are no heavy or light spots.

does the dye rub off or bleed onto shirtsleeves, your arm, etc?
